Paws Fur Fun!

Hello! My name is Lora, and I am a local professor. My husband, Alden, is an aspiring author who works from home, and watches the pups throughout the day while I'm at work. I grew up with dogs (I was one month older than one of our three!), and have always loved having my four legged friends around! Alden and I now have three amazing shelter/rescue dogs - a well-behaved and playful 48lb, 8.5 year old shepherd/heeler mix named Kaylee, a rambunctious 42lb, 5.5 year old heeler mix named Luci, and a goofy 70lb, 3 year old golden/labradoodle named Amara. My best friend's golden retriever, Max, is also staying with us long term, and he is the quintessential golden! We have a large, fenced yard and your pups would love to stay 'fur' a while! They'll be treated just like family with plenty of playtime, couch lounging, yummy treats and lots of toys to play with! You may notice a big yellow dog, and a small scruffy black and silver terrier in our pictures! They are our original welcoming committee - Athena, our wonderfully friendly, amazing, 70lb, 13.5 year old golden/collie mix who passed away from a blood clot to the heart early in the morning on December 3, 2021, and Clover, our precious 16lb, 14.5 year old cairn terrier mix who passed from cancer and side-effects of chemotherapy on July 27, 2024. We have been dog-sitting on DogVacay, now Rover, for over twelve years now, and have taken care of over 200 different dogs from more than 150 different families. They have ranged in age from 12 weeks up to 18 years old, and have weighed anywhere from 1.6lbs to 135lbs! We have completed over 1200 reservations so far! We ask that you please provide all of the food your dog will need (it helps prevent upset stomachs!), your dog's bed/pillow/blanket (so they have something that smells like home with them), and any medicine they may need during their stay. They will need to wear a collar with identification while they are here, and you will need to provide proof of vaccinations at the meet-and-greet or at the time of drop off for their first stay. We allow dogs to be dropped off or picked up between 8am and 9pm. There is an extra $10 per night added for puppies, high-energy dogs under two who still act like puppies, or adult dogs who are not yet housebroken. The reason for this is that puppies require much more supervision and will usually have an accident (or two!) inside, and non-housebroken dogs tend to have accidents or mark in the house which adds up to a lot of time, money and energy in cleaning. We no longer take adult (over one year), unfixed dogs. The extra hormones disrupt the harmony of the household and tend to provoke more disagreements between altered and unaltered dogs. For a single night stay, our rates start at $40/night, but as per Rover's site policy, if pick-up is more than 24 hours after drop-off, a daycare fee may apply. And finally, our calendar may show that we're unavailable, but it could just be that we have something going on that morning where we wouldn't be able to watch your pooch for the whole day. If you have any questions for us, including availability, please just drop us a quick note, using the links to the side of the page that say "contact sitter"! At this time we are unable to take dogs with food, dog or toy guarding/aggressive tendencies. Due to the high demand for dog-sitting services during the holiday season, stays that include any of the following dates will be priced at the sitter’s Holiday Rate (starting at $50/night): • May 29th – June 2nd, 2026 (Memorial Day) • July 2nd – 6th, 2026 (Independence Day) • September 4th - 8th, 2026 (Labor Day) • November 25th – December 1st, 2025 (Thanksgiving) • December 21st, 2025 – January 2nd, 2026 (Christmas and New Year’s) We do not allow dropoffs or pickups on Thanksgiving Day, nor from 4pm on Christmas eve until 8am on December 26th.

Lora and Alden are absolutely amazing—we’ve never had a single worry leaving our dogs in their care. They take incredible care of all three of our dogs, treating them like their own and going above and beyond every time. We’ve trusted them for years, and we truly couldn’t imagine using anyone else. Reliable, caring, and genuinely wonderful people—highly recommend!

We have used Lora for years with our dogs and can’t say enough good things about her. The dogs love her, she is great at taking pics for updates and I would recommend her to any of my friends and family.
