Taking care of pets and homes is all I do. I handle walks and drop-ins between 8am and 3pm, and house sit frequently. When I house sit, I am typically away from the home from 6-8am, 10am-2pm, and 3:30-6:00pm. Otherwise I am onsite ensuring your pet is spoiled and your home is cared for.

Safety, trust & environment
in a client’s home I care for their pets by ensuring they are comfortable with my presence, maintain a consistent routine, and have adequate stimulation. It can be stressful for pets when their owners are away, so extra affection and exercise are very helpful. I look to the pet parents to help me understand the needs & quirks of the individual animals. Unless your pet is a living garbage disposal with an iron stomach, I would want you to provide food & treats to help avoid upset tummies. If I watch animals in my own home, they will spend time with my elderly coonhound and my one-year-old Australian Shepherd puppy. I have a large yard with a tall privacy fence, and extra dog crates suitable for dogs up to 80 pounds. I crate visiting dogs in my home for their safety as well as the well-being of my own dogs. I can perform basic grooming services for an additional fee.

Information Lonie G. would like to know about your pet
I’d love to know your dog’s favorite activities and toys and treats. Please also communicate any boundaries you’d like me to enforce (no jumping, staying off furniture, etc.) so I can maintain consistency in their routine.
A typical day
With high energy pups I play fetch, tug, & tag. I have several puzzling toys that keep them engaged and curious (disinfected between dogs). For puppies I like to use frozen chew toys to soothe sore teeth. My elderly doggos get treated to back & hip massages - my veterinarian taught me how to use massage to help soothe arthritis aches, and I regularly treat my elderly hound to massages. Intentional down time is necessary for all pets, and I try to stick to their preferred rhythm.

Pet care experience
I have spent many years watching pets for my neighbors, friends and families. I volunteered at the Michigan Humane Society as a dog trainer for many years, specializing in dogs who were shy or scared, and helping them work through their anxiety to increase their chances of adoption. I have extensive experience with elderly dogs and their special healthcare needs. I have puppies at home, so I know all about the shenanigans those little ones can get up to as well. During house sitting, I pamper the pets and manage the home. You won't have to worry about mail, packages, watering plants/gardens, or linens. I would say that my goal is to be an invisible house guest but I always leave your home cleaner than how I found it. I can also perform side work for an hourly rate like organizing, cleaning, grooming, errands, etc. while I am there. My client's most common requests include shampooing carpets, deep cleaning inside refrigerators, patching small holes, and washing/changing all linens. Is there a task you intend to eventually get to that keeps getting put off? Let's talk about it. Maybe I can help!
Reviews

Lonie was amazing with our 2 elderly dogs! We haven’t left them overnight in almost 2 years due to their health issues, but I felt very comfortable with Lonie after our meet and greet. She definitely has a lot of experience with animals and is very loving with them! She also went above and beyond what I expected of her in terms of washing and changing the sheets on her bed and generally tidying up the house, even though it was just an overnight visit. I really cannot say enough good things about her! She was awesome!

Lonie watched our two dogs while we were briefly out of town and WOW she did amazing! The house was spotless, the dogs were happy and even had their nails trimmed! She was easy to communicate with, asked great questions and was very thoughtful - even asking which time zone we’d be traveling to so her updates didn’t disturb us during late/early hours. I’d absolutely recommend her.

Thanks so much for always taking good care of Hailee
