Hi friend 👋🏽, I am Liza (aka River) , your compassionate, consent based animal care companion 🥰 I am a lover of and advocate for all animals, with over 25 years of experience working with dogs in various ways including professional grooming, furkid sitting, dog walking and enrichment, dog behaviourism, fostering, Reiki and Ttouch massage. I have certification in Animal Sciences and am a Reiki Master as well as have been a professional dog groomer for over 25 years. I own The Bark Side a holistic animal care and maintenance grooming business! Your furkids’ well-being, comfort, happiness and safety is my top priority and when in my care I use all the tools I have to help achieve this. I’ll make sure they're having a good time even while they miss you. Your pup will be treated like family ❤️ I have a small art business, River’s Art and Oddities and a community aid project called Paw it Forward. I provide holistic animal care and grooming free of cost, to animal shelters, rescues, sanctuaries and to the vulnerably housed with focus on 2SLGBTQIAA+ and BIPOC communities. I am a passionate human and animal rights activists who has spent many hours volunteering at animal sanctuaries and rescues around North America!

DROP IN VISITS AND DOG WALKING: Whether your pup needs a walk, play time, a trip to the backyard, pets and snuggles, medication, meals or treats, upkeep grooming (eye trim, ear clean, nails, brushing), all of the above or anything in between, I’ve got you covered. HOUSE SITTING I am happy to provide in home pet sitting! Whether you're away for business or pleasure, rest assured that your animals/plants/house are in great hands. I prefer to book a three night minimum and can care for your pup in your place for up to two weeks at a time or more! For most house sitting requests my furkid Reidus will join me. He’s a happy go lucky 9 year old standard poodle. If your furkid doesn’t get along with other dogs please contact me anyway as it might be possible to book with you anyway. Your pup's happiness is my priority and your furkid ALWAYS comes first, no exceptions! If you have any questions for me, please fire away and I’ll be happy to answer.

I found Liza (River) to be a compassionate, responsible care giver who gave Katy and Buddy lots of attention, exercise and loving. She kept me informed of their activities sending many pics of their activities throughout her stay. I felt very confident leaving Katy and Buddy with her, knowing they would be well looked after.
River took such great care of our 4 pets and home while we were away. River sent beautiful pictures of our pets and we could tell that they all looked so happy and well cared for 🩵🩵 River was accommodating for our dogs and brought them to their favourite parks and gave them both some grooming love too! I hope to be able to book you every time we go away!! Thank you so much.
Liza took great care of my dog over the Holiday. She was on time, took good care of the dog and house, sent a lot of great photos, and JB was a happy pup when I got home! Hope to see Liza again!
This was our first time using Rover and it was amazing, despite the anxiety of leaving our furry friends for the weekend. River made us feel very secure that our buddy's would be well cared for and our house would be safe. With all River's experience with animals it added to the feeling of security and I wouldn't want to book with anyone else!! Came home to happy animals and a clean house. Very much appreciated and would recommend River to anyone and everyone! ❤️
Lisa is incredible! This was our first time using a service for our dog, so it was a difficult decision to have some new watch our do, and spend the time doing it from our home. While Lisa stayed at our home, we agreed for her to bring her dog as well, who played with ours all the time and is such a good boy. So kind, easy going, friendly and playful. She took our dog for walks, drives, to see Christmas lights, to her animal sanctuary, all with advance permission of course. She communicates all the time, sent pictures, videos and comments about the fun he is having, keeping me always in the loop. When we arrived home, our house was in perfect condition. I actually wondered if it was cleaner then we had left it! :) I highly recommend Lisa, without a doubt. She is so kind, friendly, and so lovely. We will definitely be hiring her again and plan on hopefully setting up play dates with her dog and ours as well. Thank you so very much Lisa!
Liza did a fabulous job with my dogs. The house was tidy, the dogs were tired and she will definitely be coming back.

As I own my own businesses, I am able to keep my schedules flexible to accommodate your pups daily routines, any drop ins or house/pet sitting schedules you made need!
