Safety, trust & environment

We have an acre of fenced yard on a quiet cul-de-sac next to a park with miles of trails. The yard is divided by a second fence so we can keep an eye on dogs before opening the full acre to make sure they have good recall. If your dog is a fence climber, we also have a run line that we can use to play outside in addition to regular walks. Depending on the dog, we can open a dog door to give them free reign of the backyard if trust is established. I'm very comfortable walking leash reactive dogs and can either walk them or only play in the backyard - whichever you feel most comfortable with. We've had numerous dogs on medications come through our home and I am adept at going through medical routines with a minimal amount of stress for your dog. I am ECSI Certified in canine CPR and emergency first aid. We're happy to have dogs on the couch or beds with us! If you'd like us to enforce a boundary of staying off the furniture, we can do that too. We also have a large crate if you crate train your dogs and would like to maintain conditioning, I just ask that you bring a bed or blanket with familiar smells for their comfort. The crate is never used unless you ask me to use it. IN YOUR HOME: You’ll have the same level of care and commitment, it’s just a different location for me! I will be spending the majority of my time at your house with your pup just as if I were home. I bring my computer, a good book, some treats and my walking shoes! I may run out for an hour or two to get groceries or do meet and greets with other clients. If your dog has medical or behavioral needs that make leaving them alone for even a short period unwise, please let me know and I will block my calendar completely and plan accordingly. As always, the health and happiness of your dog is my first priority.

Information Liz C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know your usual schedule, if your dogs have any food allergies or challenging behaviors I should know about and what medication needs they may have. If you have training routines or specific cues you'd like me to use for consistency please let me know!

A typical day

I'll tailor activities to suit your dogs needs. I have trail loops that are an hour and a half walk near my home for dogs who want to go, I can also do a short loop around the property for senior dogs staying with us. Fetch, hide and seek, trick training - whatever stimulates your dog, I'm ready for it! If you'd like to add a bath to your stay, I'm happy to do that! I will wash and dry your dog and do my best to brush out their coat. I will attempt nails, but if it proves to be unsafe for me or the dog, I will stop. My approach to nails is to do one toe at a time throughout the day to minimize anxiety. I'm not a groomer, so I won't clip, shave or style your dog's coat.

Pet care experience

I've had dogs in my life since I was young and volunteer with the Humane Society's Dog Behavior and Socialization program, going through all of the required training courses to be at the highest level of their DBS certifications. I've also fostered numerous dogs and am a regular repeat dog sitter for friends and family. I was recognized by the Humane Society as a volunteer of the month in 2022 for my work with dogs with difficult behavioral needs. I've worked and played with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. I was with my own dogs from puppyhood through geriatric care and understand the joy and challenges that come with dogs of all ages. Creating a bond with dogs in my life is something I truly cherish.

Can’t say enough about how wonderful Liz was!! Her expertise in dog behavior is obvious, her communication (both before and during our pup’s stay) was lovely, and our nervous pup was made so comfortable! It was a relief to know our pup was in such good hands for our weekend away. Thank you Liz!!!

Liz was excellent! She was very flexible, sent us regular updates, and got our pup a lot of exercise running around the yard and on walks each day. Liz even provided some training tips afterwards based on our dogs behavior. We will definitely be booking with Liz again in the future!
