I've had several canines in my life and more than one from puppy-hood. I’ve worked in veterinary practices and taught Animal Care at college-level. I graduated from Puppy School with clicker training experience, KC Good Citizen Awards, and Rally-Obedience ribbons with past dogs. But nothing replaces 30+ years' of experience as a dog mom! For all they bring to the world, it is a privilege to take care of dogs and give them the best life we can. Most recently, I volunteered with Peace of Mind Dog Rescue in Carmel and fostered several old pups. 10% of my income goes directly to them with thanks for their incredible work. My goal is to create a special and long lasting relationship with your fur baby. I experienced firsthand how difficult it is to find reliable dog-care for those who need 1:1 attention. The struggles I had with sitters for my late dog gave me a better understanding of what makes a great carer, and every dog in my home is treated as if they were my own. 5-Star Accommodation: Let's face it, apartment living is not for the big or rambunctious dog, but for the 'Special', it is heaven. Velcro dogs can keep an eyeball on me at all times and there are indoor & outdoor options for those who value the freedom to explore or sunbathe. Most importantly, it is a quiet, safe haven. My home is equipped with ramps and rugs so old dogs can get around. It is set up so visually impaired pups cannot harm themselves or get into anything toxic. I have all the enrichment activity supplies to hand for frozen treats, lick pads, snuffle mats and more! There is a safe outdoor balcony for potty breaks or taking in the delicious smells from neighborhood restaurants, with no stairs or steps to climb. My goal is for your beloved pup to be happy, but this is NOT Grandma's house! As an ex-veterinary nurse, my priority is to make sure all of your preferences with regard to medication administration, safety, diet, and routine are adhered to. Feel free to write a novel of instructions, I will read it! Update: Sadly, my own elderly special needs dog, Wags, passed in February 2025 but is here in spirit (& still silently judging us all) so if you read reviews mentioning how great he is - he was! In his memory, 10% of all income is donated to Peace of Mind Dog Rescue in Carmel, who saved his life and brought us together.
