Pet care experience

I have extensive experience working with a variety of household pets, both through personal pet ownership and by caring for animals belonging to friends and family. From a young age, I grew up around cats, dogs, rabbits, and hamsters, developing a deep connection and understanding of their needs and behaviors. For 15 years, I owned and cared for my Bearded Collie, Harry, from puppyhood until she sadly passed. At two years old, Harry was diagnosed with Addison’s disease, and I gained valuable experience administering daily medications and managing her condition. Due to her hypersensitivity to noise, I also took her through special training to ensure she was calm during walks, particularly since we lived near an airport. This experience helped me develop strong skills in managing dogs with specific behavioral and medical needs. In addition to my own dog, I frequently care for Spencer, my daughter’s Springer Spaniel, and regularly dog sit for Billy, my ex-neighbor’s mixed breed, and my befriendees dogs Lily and Bella. I also take care of friends' and family members’ cats when they are away. This varied experience has given me a practical understanding of different pet temperaments, routines, and care requirements. My hands-on experience extends beyond just dogs. I've become adept at managing multiple pets, adjusting to their individual personalities, and ensuring they feel comfortable and safe in my care. This experience has taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and attentiveness when looking after animals, skills that are essential for providing top-quality care as a Rover dog walker and sitter. As a Rover dog walker and sitter, I understand the importance of trust, reliability, and communication with pet owners. I am highly organized, ensuring that pets’ needs—whether exercise, feeding, or medication—are met on time, and I make sure to keep owners updated with regular messages and photos for peace of mind while they are away. Additionally, my professional background in project management and communication, including roles where I led teams and managed clients, has sharpened my organizational skills and attention to detail. These qualities allow me to confidently handle schedules, keep track of multiple pets’ needs, and manage any unexpected situations that might arise during a walk or sitting session. I am committed to providing compassionate, individualized care to every pet I work with, ensuring that both pets and their owners feel comfortable, supported, and happy with the service I provide.

Linnie is a wonderful pet caregiver! She’s looked after my very energetic springer spaniel, taking him on long walks or runs, and given him a good clean (or even succeeded at getting him into the bath!) when my boy has been unable to resist the mud and rivers on the walks/runs. He's now five, and Linnie has watched him countless times since he was a puppy. He is always very excited to see her! She even manages to get him to settle with her on the sofa for cuddles. He clearly is very well looked after and very loved which is all I need. I personally can get quite anxious and worried about leaving him, and so I would only leave him with someone I was completely confident he would feel happy and safe with, and be well looked after with. I would absolutely recommend Linnie. Linnie had a previous dog, Harry. "Harrygirl" was a bearded collie (so quite high maintenance in the brushing department!) and needed special medications, food, and care after her diagnosis with Addison's disease and other issues. Despite her illness, Harry was absolutely in the best hands and lived the best life with Linnie before tragically passing away in 2021.
