I do Rover full-time now. I used to work at a boarding kennel, but it was hard to get any real interaction with the dogs when you had +70 animals to feed, medicate, and play with. I prefer a cozier gig so I can get more one-on-one time with a few individual pets.

One thing about me is I do not discriminate against any breed. I grew up with 2 great big dogs, and I have never been intimidated by a dog based on breed stigma alone. For dog sits specifically I've found pets will respond better if we schedule a time beforehand for me to play with the dog first before the owner leaves. Dogs are pretty flexible if they get their daily enrichment, the problem basically boils down to trust. So if they see their owner trusts me and I make a positive first impression it should be smooth sailing from there.
Information Lindy "Sid" J. would like to know about your pet
I want to have a general feel for your dog's personality: are they laid back, high energy, skittish, affectionate? The biggest thing for me to know is how your dog acts with strangers. I've dealt with skittish dogs before, that's not really a problem, it just changes how I approach your pet. If your pets have any sort of emotional problems-if they're aggressive, have severe separation anxiety, etc. Then I would like to know that, too. Also if they are on medication, and how I would administer that. I used to administer multiple medications a day when I was working at the boarding kennel. I have never had a problem giving a dog medicine. I typically pay extra attention while your pet is getting their meds to make sure it goes down. Sometimes they spit it out and you have to bribe them. I do this by using a treat to keep their head upright.
A typical day
Enrichment depends solely on the dog. Most dogs respond well to some yard time and a ball. My personal favorite game is tricks for treats. It gets the animal's mind off of your absence, and forces them to problem solve. Mental stimulation is generally my go-to. A lot of the times the owner will tell me what they typically do to enrich their dog, and I just go with that.

Pet care experience
Hi! I'm Syd, I've been using Rover since 2018. I quit my job at a boarding kennel back in 2021 to pursue Rover full-time. I've always been an animal lover, I grew up with 2 dogs and 2 cats. I raised my dogs myself from the time I was 7. I used to come home from school every day and play with them in the yard for hours. They were incredibly well trained, had amazing recall, when I got older I managed to teach them their lefts and rights. This was pretty great when we went hiking on the trail.

Reviews

Sid took excellent care of our cats, Alfie and Mattie. The photos Sid sent us showed they responded very positively to her care. Thank you again, Sid!

Sid did a great job with Toby and left the house in good order. I’d be happy to use her again.

Syd is new to us but my dog thinks she’s pretty great already. I have a very large, very shy mastiff. Syd is not intimidated by her size and has an excellent understanding of dog behavior. We are super happy to have found Syd.

Lindy "Sid" did a great job caring for my two German Shepherds while I was out of state for business these past 3 days. She kept me updated with photos and information on how the dogs were doing. My older GSD Roxy is currently dealing with a fairly recent diagnosis of Hip Dysplasia and is currently going through physical therapy. Sid followed instructions perfectly for what she can and cant do plus made sure she took her pain medication twice a day. At the same time my 2 year old GSD Caesar requires a lot pf playtime in the yard that Sid provided. Would book with again & Highly recommend.
