Dog Groomer for 2 years & Pet Owner

I have loved and taken care of dogs since I was 12 years old. I would house sit and dog walk for family and neighbors. I currently have two huskies, one male and one female. I am a licensed dog groomer and did that for 2 years.

We have had her before and she was great but we were a little disappointed this time. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for but for us it was the worst experience we’ve had on rover so far. It wasn’t nightmarish but not like the care we usually experience and I honestly wish we would have stuck with the others we were talking to that had hundreds of detailed reviews on the specific type of care they give. All of these things separate would not have been a big deal, it was more of the entire experience together. We received a lot less photos and communication this time. She never let me know if she made it to our house so I messaged her after a while because I started to get nervous. I didn’t hear from her again until late that night and she said our dog wasn’t eating. Sometimes she is nervous but she has never not eaten. Even our brother in law who doesn’t have dogs or dog experience or a close relationship with her stayed one weekend and he was able to baby talk her and pet her and get her to eat so this made us nervous as well. I told her a few things to do and tried to guide her but didn’t hear back so I had to reach out again to see if anything worked or not. I told her to give her one of her bones and she sent me a photo of my dog in the recliner and her wet food cup sitting in front of her as well as her bone and said no luck. She wouldn’t have been able to eat her wet food like that on the arm of the couch. So I asked if she would hand feed her and if that didn’t work to try and egg with a little cheese. I would never hear back and would have to ask if she tried anything. We honestly wanted to come back a day early because we just didn’t have a good feeling. The day we returned I told her when we were on the way. Last time she watched her when we got there she was there so we were able to chat and see how everything went. This time she was gone and the door was unlocked and she had a key and the code on the keypad so we were a little alarmed since she didn’t say she was leaving. When we got there it was a mess and looked like no one had stayed there. We saw one of the dogs food bowl in a random area in the living room and then our girl dogs food was in the food bowl holder and not in an actual bowl so we were thinking well that’s another reason she wasn’t eating and it was just odd for someone with experience to do that. We had told her we would tip extra if she could throw the top sheet we keep over our comforter in the wash and back on since we didn’t have time before we left. When we got there it was still in the dryer so the comforter and bed was a mess. It looked like we had the same amount of eggs and cheese so we don’t think that was ever attempted. The TV was oddly unplugged. I messaged her to see if she really stayed at our house and she said yes she slept on the couch which to each their own but that’s not a comfy couch to sleep on by any means. We also told her that the bedroom was her safe space and where her dog bowls are so where she usually eats so if she could hang out in the bedroom for a little while that would probably make her more comfortable but every picture I received my dog was in the recliner. I honestly don’t even know since she slept on the couch if my dog slept in her bed or on the floor out there with her because we didnt get much detail at all of what was going on. Maybe I over do it but I’ve worked on rover many times and I go above and beyond because I know how scary it is. I let people know when I arrive and I give them plenty of pictures and updates. I will let them know things like hey we just went outside and they played a little now they are just napping and send a picture, hey they were just fed or didn’t eat all their food I tried xyz do you have any suggestions and send a picture etc because that’s why I’m there and it’s very easy to do. I always stay until they arrive but if I ever needed to jet out early I would just let them know I’m leaving and lock the door. I also go the extra mile and clean up a little from the dogs mess because that’s always appreciated and gets me tips but hey once again that’s just me and it was pretty bad in there compared to the norm. When we got home she slept for hours like she was anxious and unrested the entire time. I always pet, talk and bond with the dogs I watch so even the most anxious ones I’ve never had a problem with but it doesn’t seem like any of that was done. I think she is a good person just not exactly what we usually have experienced on rover and we will go with someone with more reviews next time to be safe.

Great communication! Was very helpful & kind to our fur baby during her time of the month! Made sure that she was comfortable each day, even groomed and gave her a bath! Can tell how much she loves dogs. Will definitely book again in the future!

Lindsey was by far the best sitter we’ve ever had. Needed to find someone to stay with our pup because she has a lot of anxiety being alone after losing her dog brother and we were very nervous about leaving her! Lindsey was thoughtful, caring, knowledgeable, helpful and communicated with us throughout. Our dog felt comfortable with her within 5 minutes and we could tell from the photos that she felt safe with her. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

She babysat for my 2 Schnauzers Molly & Macy. She’s also a great dog groomer and we stayed with her even after her Petsmart days because they loved her so much! She’s patient, playful, and always left them with bows in their hair. Loved her care and creativity!
