Pet care experience

Hi, I already love your pet!

I work at an animal shelter and have been handling animals from mice to Great Danes for the past 3 years. I have an in depth understanding of both cat and dog body language, and regularly work with animals that have handling sensitivity, resource guarding, behavioral troubles and health concerns. I help out in our in-shelter Vet Clinic, distributing both pill & liquid oral medications, vaccines/SubQ fluids, and administering topical treatments for skin, eye, and ear ailments. I am Fear-Free certified, which is a training that focuses on positive reinforcement to help eliminate fear and stress in pets. I regularly dog sit for neighbors and friends, cat sit for my sister, and have cared for dogs and small animals in my personal life, including guinea pigs, rats, fish, frogs, birds and lizards.

We had to change our locks because of this sitter and she has caused so much unnecessary stress. We used this sitter a few times when our regular sitters were unavailable and trusted her enough to keep our house key for future visits. This month during 1 booked visit, she sent this message when at our house : " I am terribly sorry- it looks like I accidentally grabbed the wrong key when I left my house 😭do you have a spare anywhere, or a code to get in? she accidentally took the wrong key and could not enter our home, asking if we had another key or code. This was stressful to say the least, she was very apologetic, we forgave the mistake, and moved forward. Mistakes happen, however, the next events that happened days later, were not a mistake but were very concerning. After we returned, we cancelled a future booking and asked for our key back. She agreed to return it at 5:30 PM on Aug 8th, then texted through the app 30 min before, saying she would be hours late. When we expressed concern and asked that our key not be left unattended, she went from being apologetic (5:30 pm) to rescheduling, to hostile (5:38 pm, 6:42 pm, 6:49 pm) and personal within minutes. We have attached screen shots and luckily all was captured in the app so rover can review. The barrage of messages including comments about our, payment, tipping, and claiming she had returned the key “7th or 8th” time, which makes no sense. Her final message (and we had not responded at all throughout this chain or any message) was-- a unilateral demand: " Email me at this email address Ilovesully09@yahoo.com with a time to bring the key by, I am now ending this business relationship with you. Goodbye". Very disconcerting to say the least. Because she had our property—our house key—and directed us to communicate through an outside personal email address, after her behavior we did not feel comfortable corresponding with her off-platform. We contacted Rover and they reviewed the messages, and they agreed not to contact her via a personal e-mail off the platform and they would get back to us within 48 hours when they contacted the sitter. We did not hear back in 24 hours and have now had to change our locks due to safety and security, which rover says they are committed to. Days later rover stated that the sitter left the keys unattended somewhere on the front porch... so much for safety and security. We have attached screenshots of the Rover messages as the evidence speaks for itself. The initial wrong-key incident was a mistake we were willing to move past becaues mistakes happen; but the subsequent handling of our key and the abrupt escalation in communication were not.

We had a wonderful experience! Sheila was well cared for and came home happy, relaxed, but excited to everyone! We received regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious that Sheila received plenty of attention, affection, and great care. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and everything was handled professionally. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend Lindsey to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their dog.

Lindsey was amazing. My cat can be quite a loner but he came out every day for Lindsey! When he decided to hide the last day she stayed and played music for him! What a nice touch! Recommend highly!
