I have a large, fenced yard that can be separated off. I have lots of dog equipment. For example large crates if your dog is used to being crated, bowls, beds and cushions, a big bed for them to share with me, jackets, leashes, kongs and lots of love and affection. Same for cats--EXCEPT, I let them out only on the back deck (enclosed).

Information Linda K. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or unusual so that I can be prepared for that. Tell me a little bit about their personalities. I think it's important for the dog, in particular, to do a Meet & Greet to introduce him (her) to the smells of the house and to introduce everybody me. I like to know the temperament and habits of cats.

A typical day

I treat the dogs that I dog-sit for much like my foster dogs. I want them to feel loved, safe and protected as well as stimulated and exercised. As examples of enrichment, I hide green beans under and between two pieces of card board with a couple of holes in them, (you'd be surprised how many dogs love green beans) play ball with them inside and out and give them Kong's (usually filled with a little dry food, peanut butter and green beans). If your dog is used to sleeping with you, they sleep with me. If not--not. If they need medication, I give them their medicine (within reason--if multiple problems, a small extra fee is charged). I let the cat determine how much attention/affection/play he or she wants.

Pet care experience

(Formerly Kamp Kelley) I have been fostering small dogs for a rescue group in No. VA. for the last 9 years (my aching back doesn’t allow me to work with dogs larger than 20 lbs)--prior to that I fostered cats and kittens. I has experience with many types of small dogs—especially Shih Tzu’s and Llasa Apso’s, but also Yorkshire Terriers, Basset Hounds, Pom's, Toy Poodles, etc. My expertise is in rescuing and caring for senior and special need dogs. Since I have a dog-friendly house and a large-fenced yard (1/4 acre) for them to run and play in, I decided to become a dog-sitter 5 years ago. I believe in loving and treating your fur-baby like my own! We keep her home and yard dog proof so your little angel will be in a safe, relaxed, dog-friendly, and loving environment! Because I am retired, my schedule is very flexible.

Taking on a totally unknown dog from a cross-country road trip, IS a risk. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. If you read this Linda, I am interested in that food you had there for your fosters. Please shoot me a message, I may look at ordering it to try next time. Thanks again!

Linda did an amazing job watching our little pup Bentley. We were gone for 5 days and she accommodated us with even picking him up a bit early. Bentley has only been with us for 4 months so we weren't sure how it would go. It went amazing. So much so he even looked a little sad to be leaving Linda. She gave updates even when I wasn't able to ask or get right back with her. Bentley has a bit of a finicky stomach and has zero problems since we brought him home. Linda is very kind and attentive not only to the needs of Bentley but ours too. We definitely will be back when we plan our family trip next year. I can't tell her thank you enough. She truly put all my worries at ease. No question that she was the perfect pick for us and Bentley. Thank you again Linda!
