Home of the Free Range Dogs

Pet care experience

I am away at this time. **************************************************************** There is nothing I like more than being around dogs. I graduated from UC Davis studying animal science. I worked as an animal health technician at UCD Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital during my undergrad years. I have worked with both large (horses, llamas) and small animals (dogs and cats). I have also volunteered at Berkeley Animal Services for many years. My dogs came from rescue groups and both are mixed breeds. I have a doggie door in the garage which goes out to the dog run. The dogs have the option to go in and out of the house as they please. They sleep in the "dog room" at night, which connects to my bedroom. I have multiple Wifi cameras in the house which allow me to see what the dogs are doing from my phone. I am just around the corner from Bruce King Memorial Dog Park and 2.5 miles from Pt. Isabel. Albany Bulb is just 4.5 miles away. My dogs go to Pt. Isabel and Albany Bulb several times a week. We are so lucky to have multiple dog parks nearby. My home is generally quiet with very few visitors. If your dog likes to play, Cracus is the perfect playmate. If your dog just likes to chill, there are plenty of places to hang out in and out of the house. I am certified in CPR and first aid for pets and have performed CPR in a real life situation on a puppy that became unresponsive. I gave him mouth to snout infant CPR and brought him back to life. It was an experience I would never forget. Why I love dog sitting For as long as I can remember I have been an animal lover. In elementary school, my father adopted a Doberman puppy. He was great but I was too young to care for a young large dog. Growing up, I had birds, mice, turtles, fish, etc. When I finally turned 18 and moved out on my own, my housemate and I had 2 Malamutes (one was 150 lbs.) and 2 rabbits. We also took in 2 abandoned cats from across the street. Four years ago I fostered Kelsey for post-heartworm procedure. I adopted her after a week. On November 1, 2014, I adopted Cracus from a local animal shelter. I love all animals and dogs of all breeds. Dog sitting gives me an opportunity to experience different breeds of dogs and learn each dog's unique character. I am also a photographer, so you will be getting lots of cute photos of your dog(s) at no extra charge! About my yard Please see my photos. My experience administering medication Yes. Kelsey has been on heartworm medicine ever since I got her.

Lina is absolutely the best! It was the first time we needed to leave our three dogs for a few days and we were naturally anxious. She was just so great with our babies. She answered all our questions, and was in contact the whole time, constantly sending us photos and feedbacks. She gave me peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our vacation. We're definitely getting her again because we trust her completely with our dogs.

Information Lina H. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know EVERYTHING about a dog before sitting him or her. The ideal dog to stay with us is one who likes to be with other dogs, who doesn't chew on furniture, doesn't eat non-edible items, doesn't bark excessively, house broken, and doesn't mind staying home with other dogs with human away for a few hours. While I love dogs of all sizes, my house and yard are both small. At this time I will not be able to take giant breeds or dogs over 50 lbs unless they are 7 years or older.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We walk around the neighborhood, go to Pt. Isabel or Albany Bulb mostly. I would like to know whether your dog is on flea and/or tick treatment. Places like Tilden and Wildcat have a lot of ticks. If your dog isn't protected against them, then I won't take him/her there. I put a tag with my contact information on all the dogs who are staying with me just in case. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Tell me what your normal arrangement is. I have had outdoor dogs who only wanted to sleep outside because it was too warm for them to sleep inside. Currently both of my dogs sleep inside in a room.
