Experienced Walker & Sitter 🌟 🐶

I have been doing Rover since college and have had many clients! I have experience with all breeds and behaviors. Prior though, I was a private dog walker and caretaker for a family in Wilmington, NC for 2 years. They had three adult dogs and in 2021 had 3 puppies too. I was responsible for walking them, taking them to vet appointments, administering oral and topical medication, exercising them beyond walks, and feeding their meals 3x/day. I worked in a veterinary hospital as well as a kennel technician and animal care assistant in Raleigh, NC. There I learned more about animal restraint, monitoring groups of dogs in play sessions, administered oral medication and injectables (like insulin), bathed dogs and cats, fed and cared for pets staying overnight, and monitored for any signs of distress or discomfort. I also grew up with a boxer and a dachshund, and now have 2 of my own dogs!

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

Having gained skills and knowledge on safety precautions for both myself, others, and the pet you can ensure I will monitor, feed, walk, and exercise your pet in appropriate and safe manner. I am able to follow specific instructions if given any, and know the signs and symptoms of distress, aggression, or anxiety and know how to deescalate and prevent situations. Working as a private dog walker and sitter I often was left alone and maintained a tidy house, cleaning up after myself and the pets as I was there. Effective communication is key and I always keep owners up to date via text or calling about any issues, concerns, questions, or just to send cute pictures of their pets (if communicating is desired!)

I love to know if the dog if known for being reactive so I can avoid certain triggers, as well as if the dog is on medication/has allergies in case of emergencies or off behavior. If they are anxious or territorial around new people I like to know ahead of time so I can better plan my walk or approach to them, but can usually just visualize it through their behaviors when or if I see that. Let me know if there are certain words or actions that I can implement in my visit or during the walk, and if treats are used/allowed!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
