Pet care experience

At 50+ yrs of age, I'm responsible

I grew up on a dairy farm in north Charlotte, Being exposed to all types of animals I am an animal lover, particularly of dogs. For sixteen years I was an Anthrolopology student, studying and working with human skeletal remains. Before I left NC for grad school in 1996, I worked for five years as a kennel assistant at two local vet clinics. When I left academics in 2007 and came back to NC, I worked under a former police canine handler to become a dog trainer and have been training dogs for 18 years. In 2013, I was head instructor for his company, Highland Canine Training, School for dog trainers. The school is an intensive six month course of study, with both classroom and hands-on training time. So, with my 23 years of animal/dog experience, I know how to lift, carry, administer meds (orally and shots), clips nails, check paws, teeth and gums if there is reason to and check and clean ears. I can also recognize signs dogs display when they feel any discomfort, irritation or pain. As a trainer, I am great with dogs, I have that "auroa". With all of my years of experience, know how to read a dog's body language, how to encourage "good" behaviors, discourage "bad" behaviors and work at keeping your dog calm and myself calm in the process. particularly in the house. I've cared for and worked with alll breeds, sizes and ages of dogs. I treat your dog(s) like they're my own when I pet sit for owners. Your babies are my babies.

Safety, trust & environment

I provide pet sitting services in YOUR home. As far as daily care goes, I follow your daily routine: feeding, pee/pooing, leash walks, outside play time. Because I have more free time than you do, your dog and I can take longer walks or multiple walks each day, as well as have more play time outside and even inside the house. I'm a dog trainer, so inside play time is structured play time. If you have multiple dogs, I often like to spend one of one time with each dog. Even if it's 15 minutes per day. I promise that your dog(s) will get plenty of TLC. There will be plenty of head scrtaches and back/butt rubs during the day AND at night we can snuggle up on the floor, couch or bed (wherever your dog is allowed) and watch my British crime/mystery shows.

Jamie did great with my nervous dog and my dog took to her where kisses her given. The biggest issue was communication. I specifically requested daily pics and updates. I only received pics for 3 of 10 days and updates were typically short and general rather than providing details especially on my multiple cats.

Lillian did an awesome job watching Scarlett over the weekend. Scarlett can be pretty anxious and high energy, so I’m always a little cautious leaving her with someone new, but she took to Lillian right away, which says a lot. Lillian was very responsive the entire time and clearly put in the effort to work with Scarlett, not just watch her. That meant a lot to me knowing she was in good hands while I was away. Would definitely recommend her and will be reaching out again in the future.

We couldn’t be happier with Jaime! She was absolutely amazing. Our dogs, Luna and Norman, adored her from the start, and it was clear they were well-loved and well-cared for while we were away. We came home to a spotless house — she even picked up the dog poop in the yard and washed the sheets she used, which went above and beyond our expectations. We will definitely be using Jaime again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and caring sitter!

Jaime worked wtih my 3 yr old Golden Retriever, Gus. Over six lessons, Gus learned to heel, sit, down, stay, go to his "place" and to come. In addition, I learned how to better handle his rambunctiousness. Gus performs his commands perfectly, especially when I am consistent & serious about following through. He consistently comes when called, which was one of the main goals I hoped to accomplish. Jaime has continued to follow up through calls & texts to see how Gus & I are doing. She motivates me to maintain what Gus & I have learned, reviews & addresses our day to day struggles & always makes me laugh. On top of everything she taught us, Jaime also voluntarily comes to my house once a week to walk Gus & my other Golden, Nash. I couldn't ask for a better trainer & caregiver for my two boys. 5 STAR review for Jaime!

Jaime worked with me and my Akita, Raffy. The first time we met her, Raffy hid behind my legs, but Jaime gained her trust and Raffy was always happy to see her when she came to the house. Jaime gave clear directions and taught me what to do and how to do it during our sessions. More importantly, she taught me what to do and what NOT to do when she wasn’t there, when Raffy and I were not training, but living our day to day lives. Jaime encouraged and supported me throughout the training process and continues to do so. We remain friends to this day.

Schedule

In March of this year I left my corporate part-time job to focus solely on pet sitting and dog training. So, I am now able to spend more time at your home with your dog(s)/pet(s). When I leave your home it will be to run errands or a scheduled dog traininig evaluation or lesson. This typically means I would be away from your home for 2.5-3 hours. I may schedule two lessons for the same day, but do not schedule back to back lessons. I prefer to have several hours between lessons. When I have slow day(s) I'm typically on my computer working on drumming up dog/pet business.
