Seasoned and Responsible Dog Lover

I owned a dog for 18 years and miss having one in my life. I am a responsible owner who loves dogs and misses having one in my home. I am also a good trainer of dogs. I also owned cats for years, (though those are not trainable.) (My own dog of many years had separation anxiety, as well as arthritis (in his later years,) so I am familiar with both.) I live in an area next to walnut groves and country roads. I love sitting well-behaved dogs which have been trained not to bark incessantly, ruin things, or have aggression, or in-house potty issues. (For dogs not potty-trained or with incontinence issues, you must supply a crate.) I can do pet care any day of the week and am home most of the time every day. I go for a walk each day over the lunch hour, (and if I have a dog, after work as well.) I am an early riser and early to bed as well. I can communicate with you via phone or email. Hablo Espanol. Rover.com allows me to get my pet fix since I love dogs and cannot own one.

Leslie is very compassionate and accomminadating to my dog's needs. She is naturally a dog person. She takes him on awesome walks where he gets to socialize with other dogs and see goats. My dog is always wagging his tail when we arrive for drop off because he knows he's seeing his friend Leslie!

My dog is a rescue and can be slow to warm with people but he immediately felt comfortable with Leslie. He had a great time going on walks with Leslie and seeing farm animals. He came back a calm and happy dogo!

Leslie is an absolute treasure! A true dog lover, she took great care of Stark and kept me informed during my entire trip of how he was doing. I’m looking forward to Stark seeing her again on my next trip!

Schedule

I can do pet care any day of the week and am home most of the time every day. I go for a walk each day over the lunch hour, (and if I have a dog, after work as well.) I am a business professional who works at home and am home most of the time, so I can be there for dogs who want someone present, especially those with separation anxiety. (Exceptions are for errands.) Since my home office needs to be a quiet environment, as I am on the Zoom during parts of the day, I cannot take dogs with regular barking issues.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a pet-friendly home which dogs love since there is room for playing. Most of them like camping next to me all day - and many resting near or on top of my feet!

A typical day

I do daily walks in my neighborhood - down quite country lanes - with some farm animal site seeing. (They are behind fences.) Playing with toys.

I like to have a chat with the owner in advance to ask questions so that I learn about their pet, her/his preferences, so that I can be prepared. I also need to know about the feeding and medication routine. (Any out-of-the-ordinary, multi-ingredient concoctions of foods and medicines will be an additional $10/day.) I do not accept any dogs which have aggressive behavior, (including biting and/or excessive barking problems,) are not house-broken, which are not trained to follow basic commands, which jump up on furniture after being told not to. Dogs where a meet-and-greet, or absolute assurance is needed: As I was mauled and attacked unprovoked by a pit bull, I will only accept a pit bull or pit bull mix if it is VERY docile and friendly and does NOT have the inbred viciousness some have.. If I do accept it, my fee will be increased by $10 a day, and require a signed waiver that your dog has not bitten anyone and that if he does you will accept full legal consequences. I only accept any chihuahuas if you assure me confidently and honestly that it does not have an obnoxious, high-pitched, excessive bark which is too stress-inducing and is not conducive to my work-at-home businesses . . . or neighbor satisfaction. For drop-ins or daily walk services, (not boarding or in-owner sits,) the times and availability depends on the owner's location.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
