Pet Care, Dog Boarding and Training

Hello! Please take a moment to select "Read More" to learn about me, my experience and my services. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I grew up with a menagerie of animals: dogs (German Shepherds and an English Collie), cats, a rabbit, fish, snails (yes snails) and turtles. I often spoke of working with and caring for animals as a child. However, I obtained a BS in Medical Technology and an MBA and spent most of my career in management. In 1998, my family adopted a lovely 3-year-old female Golden Retriever from Golden Retrievers in Need Rescue Service, Inc. (G.R.I.N). I worked very hard to train her and help her overcome her anxieties. I was so proud of her when she was awarded her Canine Good Citizen! Unfortunately, she passed away at a relatively young age which left me heartbroken. In 2012, I left my successful management career to provide pet care and dog training on a full-time basis. I developed a solid knowledge foundation on pet care, pet communication and dog training and I continue to learn and strengthen my skills as a pet care/dog training professional. In 2013, I earned a certificate in Pet CPR & First Aid & Care from PetTech and I volunteered for the next 5 years at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center as a dog trainer, adoption counselor and dog walker. My family also adopted a beautiful 5-year-old female Golden Retriever from G.R.I.N. Our Golden had a sweet and gentle disposition, was a quick learner and a great host to our guest dogs. Sadly, she passed away in 2021. In 2022, we adopted a 1 year old female Golden Retriever from G.R.I.N. She is sweet, friendly, playful and a cuddle bug. I am having so much fun with her. I look forward taking care of animals and I have met a lot of great people and their pets. I offer the following services: o Overnight Care for Dogs in my Home o Daycare for Dogs in my Home o Pet Sitting in Client’s Home o Dog Training ______________________________________________________________________________ *Overnight/Day Care for Dogs in my Home* I open my home to canine guests where they can spend time with my family that includes my husband and 2 adult sons. I am home a great deal of the time and I include our guest dog(s) in activities such as walks, hikes, playing ball in our 4-foot fenced yard and just spending time together. I typically host 2 guest dogs at a time. I am comfortable administering oral and topical medication. In the unfortunate event that my guest dog needs emergency care, I am 8 miles or 16 minutes from MedVet. Dog daycare can be a partial day or full day and is offered by appointment. Overnight/Daycare Requirements o Meet and Greet o Completed Pet Care Questionnaire – detailing owner, pet and veterinarian information, medical history, medication including prevention for flea, tick and heartworm, schedules, training history, personality, and behavior o DA2PP vaccination o Rabies vaccination o Bordetella vaccination o Canine Influenza vaccination o People friendly – no aggressive behavior towards men and women o Dog friendly – no aggressive behavior towards dogs *meet and greet with other guest dogs may be required* o Absence of possessive behavior over food, toys, people, or locations o House friendly – no chewing, scratching, indoor accidents, excessive barking or crying o Crate trained preferred but will consider dogs that can be contained by baby gates during my absence and during the night ______________________________________________________________________________ *Pet Sitting* I provide pet sitting within a 5-mile radius from my home. I do not charge by the number of pets but by the time it takes to provide care. I provide care to a variety of household pets. Care could include feeding, changing water, scooping a litter box, letting your dog out to do its business, walking a dog, playtime and snuggles. I also provide free services while pet sitting such as rotating lights and window treatments, bringing in mail and newspapers, watering indoor plants, taking out the trash and a house security check. I am comfortable administering oral and topical medication. In the unfortunate event that your pet needs emergency care, I can bring your pet to your vet or to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital. Pet Sitting Requirements o Meet and Greet o Completed Pet Care Questionnaire – detailing owner, pet and veterinarian information, medical history, medication including prevention for flea, tick and heartworm, schedules, training history, personality and behavior o DA2PP vaccination (dogs) o Rabies vaccination (dogs and cats) o FVRCP or Distemper (cats) o FeLV or Feline Leukemia (outdoor cats) o People friendly – no aggressive behavior towards men and women _______________________________________________________________________________ *Dog Training* I train you how to train your dog. Training takes place at your home or at a park. I use lure and positive reinforcement methods. Training cues that are covered include watch me, sit, down, come, sit/stay and loose leash walking. Rabies vaccination is required.

Leslie was very sweet with Enzo. He can be a bit needy and she didn’t seem to mind at all. He was very well taken care of and had a great time.

Leslie and her family make my dog, Archie, feel right at home. He immediately is excited when he sees them. I most definitely will continue to ask her to watch Archie when I need a sitter. :)

Leslie is very caring and thorough in watching her “guests”. She has a great fenced back yard for the dogs to run and I would definitely recommend using her.

Leslie does a wonderful job of watching Archie. He was in great spirits when I picked him up. Leslie always sends pictures and keeps me posted daily how Archie’s doing. I will keep going back to her when I need a dog sitter. Thanks Leslie!! 😊
