House sitting suits my lifestyle well. I work largely from home as a children’s author, which means I’m present throughout the day and able to give pets consistent attention. I enjoy quiet, settled environments, long walks, and spending time in nature, which makes caring for dogs especially rewarding. NOTE: With stays longer than three nights, I will need to bring my well-behaved German Shepherd. He gets on with other dogs, but if your dog does not, then I am not the right fit for stays longer than three days.

Safety, trust & environment
I care for pets in a calm, secure, and familiar way, always following the owner’s instructions and the pet’s usual routine. Whether in my home or a pet owner’s home, I focus on creating a relaxed environment where pets feel safe, settled, and well cared for. Safety is always a priority. I’m careful with doors, gates, leads, and outdoor access, and I only introduce dogs to new environments or other animals gradually and sensibly. Walks, play, feeding, and rest are tailored to each pet’s needs, age, and energy level. I take trust very seriously. I’m DBS checked through my work with schools, and I can also supply a letter-headed solicitor’s reference from the Principal of a law firm who has known me professionally since 2009. I treat every home and pet with respect, confidentiality, and care, and aim to give owners complete peace of mind.
Information Lesley T. would like to know about your pet
Before caring for a pet, I need to understand its individual needs and routines. This includes feeding schedules, walking preferences, favourite toys, and any medical needs such as medication, allergies, or dietary requirements. I also like to know about behaviour and temperament in advance, for example, how a dog reacts to other dogs, children, traffic, or new environments; whether they’re nervous, energetic, or more relaxed; and any habits that help them feel calm and secure. If there are training cues, boundaries, or routines you follow at home, I’m very happy to continue those. The more I know beforehand, the better I can tailor care to keep pets happy, safe, and comfortable, and to give owners complete peace of mind.
A typical day
A typical day with me is calm, structured, and centred around the dog’s routine. We usually start the morning with a relaxed walk to stretch our legs, have a good sniff, and enjoy some fresh air. Back at home, there’s breakfast, followed by some quiet time, play with toys, or a gentle game of ball, depending on what the dog enjoys most. During the day, I’m around at home, so there’s plenty of companionship, cuddles, and reassurance. If appropriate, we might go out for a short car ride or a change of scenery, always keeping safety and comfort in mind. Dogs are let out regularly for breaks and to enjoy the garden. In the afternoon or early evening, we head out for a second walk, followed by supper, a well-earned treat, and a calm wind-down. Evenings are relaxed, with lots of affection, settling time, and making sure each dog feels secure, content, and cared for before bedtime.

I’m comfortable following detailed instructions, maintaining routines, and communicating clearly with owners. Additionally, I also have many years of experience caring for and managing multiple rental and holiday properties, including overseeing maintenance, security, and day-to-day responsibilities.
Reviews

I felt very relaxed leaving Herbie in Lesley’s care. She was calm and kind and easy to deal with. She kept me updated with what they had been up to and I would definitely use her again.

The dogs appeared to be happy and well 'fussed' while I was away. Very professional and easy to deal with

Lesley is a genuine 5-star dog sitter, and we 100% recommend her. She is incredibly patient and has a wonderful way of helping dogs feel calm and reassured, especially those who can become nervous, anxious, or overexcited when their owners leave. She takes the time to build trust, allowing each dog to settle at their own pace. As a highly experienced dog owner and PAT dog handler, Lesley understands dog behaviour and knows how to adapt to each dog's individual personality and needs. It's clear that she genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after, and that comes across in everything she does. If you're looking for someone who will treat your dog with kindness, patience, and understanding, you won't find many better. Whether your dog is confident or needs a little extra reassurance, you can leave them with Lesley knowing they'll be in safe, caring hands. A truly 5-star sitter, and someone we would recommend without hesitation.
