I’ve been caring for animals since I was a little girl, and animals have always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve owned and cared for many different types of pets and have always taken the time to research their individual needs so I could give them the best life possible. I have over 30 years of experience with dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities, from small breeds to large, powerful dogs. I’m comfortable following established routines, providing plenty of attention and playtime, and adapting my approach to each dog’s individual personality and needs. I also have experience with senior pets and understand that they may need extra patience, a slower pace, and closer attention to their comfort and behavior. My own dog is Hemi, my Rottweiler and resident “big baby.” He loves giving hugs and even knows how to tilt his head on command! Having a large dog of my own has given me plenty of hands-on experience with the strength, energy, and wonderfully goofy personalities that often come with bigger breeds. When I care for your dog, I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’ll follow your instructions and their normal routine, spend quality time playing or relaxing with them, and I’m happy to send pictures and updates so you can see how they’re doing. I treat every pet in my care the way I would want someone to treat my own.

Leona is amazing! We have had her watch our dogs every time we’ve needed someone, and she never disappoints. She’s great with all animals, incredibly patient, and truly kind. Leona is professional, reliable, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the pets she looks after. Our heeler is usually skittish around strangers, but thanks to Leona’s gentle and understanding approach, she warmed right up to her. We wouldn’t trust anyone else to care for our pets.

Schedule
As a teacher, I have a consistent schedule that makes it easy to plan pet care around my workday. I’m available for house-sitting every other week and can provide care before and after school as well as more flexible care on weekends and school breaks. When I accept a booking, I make sure I have the time to give your pet the attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve, not just rush in and out.

I know it takes a lot of trust to welcome someone into your home and leave a beloved pet in their care. As a teacher and longtime pet owner, I’m responsible, dependable, and attentive to details. I’ll carefully follow your instructions and your pet’s normal routines, respect your home, and pay attention to any changes in behavior, appetite, or overall well-being. I’ll also send pictures and updates so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is safe, comfortable, and cared for.

A typical day
I like to tailor each day to the pet in front of me! For dogs who love activity, that might mean walks, exploring and sniffing, playing with favorite toys, or games that keep them engaged. For pets who would rather relax, I’m perfectly happy spending time giving belly rubs, cuddling, or just hanging out together. I’ll follow your pet’s usual schedule as closely as possible and make sure they get the right balance of exercise, play, affection, and downtime for their age, energy level, and personality.

I’d also like to know how they react to other animals and people, whether they have any escape habits or triggers, and anything that helps them feel comfortable. And of course, tell me about their favorite toys, treats, scratches, and silly little quirks—I want to get to know them!
