Pet care experience

Experienced Pet Sitter | Dog Fitness Instructor

I am not just your average pet sitter :) I am a devoted animal enthusiast with over two decades of experience in caring for several dogs that my kids had over the years. Being really passionate about sports, I specialise In dog fitness. This means taking really active dog breeds for runs and helping other dogs that might struggling with their weight or want to be more active for long walks at the Olympic park. Since I have retired from the world of business, I have decided to offer a part of my time to take care of pets around the neighborhood as a way to pass free time, feel productive, connect with new people and even practice my english (which happens to be my third language). Every pet has their own personality is what I always told my kids and so I believe in personalized care for every pet. This is why I take the time to understand each pet's unique needs and preferences before taking them on, ensuring they feel loved and comfortable throughout the whole experience. I have a knack for working with puppies and dogs of all ages. My gentle yet effective training methods have helped many of our own pets become well-behaved and happy companions for my kids over the years. Last but not least I am very proactive about the health and well-being of pets. I love outdoor excercise and take all my dogs on multiple walks a day and even runs (for the fitter dogs that need that bit of extra excercise).

Doggy Day Care • Dec 16, 2025

Lena did amazing with Wolfie. Not only did he do great exercise with her. He became part of her pack. Great way for a little puppy to socialise. He’s tired but super happy. Definitely a great experience for him.

Namu is a 22 months old Cavapoo. In the past 18 months, we have used a number of dog sitters via Rover or other sites. What I can say is that Lena is by far the best dog sitter we have had, and she will be our designated dog sitter going forward for any occasion. Lena 1) provides regular updates throughout the day. She provides at least twice daily updates from her walks, usually with many videos and photos. We left Namu with Lena for 7 days and her communication was consistent throughout the period. 2) Is very attentive. She literally does everything she says on her profile. She wants to get to know your dog, their preference and instructions in detail so she can look after the dog as you would. 3) Usually looks after a number of dogs during the day. That means your dog has natural ability to socialise with other dogs. I noticed that Namu was less sensitive to other dogs after a week with Lena. Above all, she really cares about your dog and understand dog parents’ mind when they have to leave their dog with someone. I would recommend Lena to anyone!

Schedule

As I have retired early, I have plenty of time (and energy) to be flexible around my clients schedule. Whether it's daily walks, overnight stays, or extended vacations, i try to be there when you need me. In case of unexpected situations where I am not available, i also have a reliable network of fellow pet sitters who can step in to ensure your pets are always in good hands. I understand from my own experience that leaving your furry family memmber with a stranger for the first time can be stressful. So as a rule of thumb I keep all my clients regularly updated with photos and messages so they can have peace of mind while they are away.

Safety, trust & environment

I always prioritize the safety, trust, and well-being of your pets in my own home. I go above and beyond to make sure all pets (whether my own or my clients) enjoy a warm, pet-friendly environment with plenty of love and attention. Having no little children around the home means the home is always clean, and I go the extra mile to ensure I have all the necessary pet supplies.

A typical day

I start my day bright and early, ensuring the dogs I'm caring for have a great start too. We kick off the day with a refreshing morning walk or light run (up to 5km but sometimes I can do 10km for bigger dogs). I like to vary the routes to keep things interesting and provide new smells and sights for the dogs. Back home, it's breakfast time for the pups. I make sure they have their favorite meals or treats, taking into account any dietary restrictions or preferences. I pay close attention to each dog's needs and preferences during the day. I provide a comfortable space for the dogs to rest and recharge, especially if they're older or need a break from play. For dogs that require training or mental stimulation, I incorporate short training sessions or puzzle toys to keep their minds active. The afternoon is filled with more activities and exploration. We might go on an adventure to a nearby dog park, nature trail, or pet-friendly beach. These outings provide socialization opportunities and new experiences. I offer healthy snacks or treats, ensuring they stay energized and hydrated throughout the day. As the day winds down, I ensure the dogs are comfortable and content. Dogs are served a nutritious dinner, tailored to their dietary needs. We take a final walk before bedtime to help them wind down and take care of any last-minute business. Fun Activities and Special Places: I love to make each day an adventure for the dogs I watch. That means I often take dogs to local parks, where they can explore new scents, socialize with other dogs, and enjoy open spaces. For more active and adventurous dogs, I enjoy hiking in nearby nature reserves or trails, providing a healthy dose of exercise and fresh air.
