My wife and I own Heritage House, a boutique bed & breakfast and event venue in Opelika. We live on site in a separate, private residence. This is our full time job so at least one of us would pretty much always be around while hosting your dog. Our living space is on a second floor so your dog must be able to navigate stairs OR be a small enough dog that we can easily carry them up and down safely.

We have a small fenced section of the property for letting your dog out on short breaks and would also be taking lots of walks, as needed, around our very safe neighborhood. We are flexible based on your dog's needs and could do crating if necessary, but we prefer to let well behaved, house trained pups run free in the house.

Please make sure your dog's profile is updated with all the relevant information for us to make sure they are happy and healthy. In particular outline feeding schedule and amounts, any medications we need to administer and tips for getting them to take the meds, activity level and needs, how they interact with people and other pets, and anything else we should be aware of. The more information the better!
A typical day
We generally let the dog out in the yard to potty and feed them breakfast first thing in the morning. Once we are done with our morning work we'll take them for a walk. Depending on the day we may be with them all day long or leave them alone for some time if we have a busy work day. But even in that case one of us will almost be around to give them attention and let our for mid day potty breaks. We feed and go for another walk in the evening. If your dog gets along well with others we try to make a stop at the dog park for some play time. They will be let out once more to potty before bed. If your pup likes to play fetch or needs other attention we are happy to do it. We love dogs and do everything we can to make their stay comfortable and stimulating.

Pet care experience
We recently had to say goodbye to our elderly dog and while we aren't ready to find a new four-legged friend we want to take care of yours! We have had multiple dogs throughout our lives and have taken care of lots of dogs of all kinds for our friends.

Leif was awesome and his place was beautiful. He provided ample updates and made sure Theo got his walks in daily exploring around the neighborhood. Theo came home happy- thanks for showing him a great time!!
Leif is a great human that loves dogs. He was my go-to for dog sitting for many years when we were lucky enough to live in the same city. I knew I could count on him to keep them safe and happy, get lots of exercise, and keep me informed if anything came up (but also not bug me if all is well, so I could enjoy my vacation!). He's cared for my cuddly 65-pound pitbull mix that responded well to knowing that the human was in charge, as well as my high-anxiety rat-terrier mix that just wants to stay close at all times but doesn't necessarily want to snuggle. He's handled all sorts of "extra" asks, including giving medications, dealing with particular diets, and sometimes unpredictable behavior from my pups around other humans and/or dogs. I also know he's cared for aging pups that need a little extra time/patience/care. You and your pup will be lucky to know Leif.
