My wife and I own Heritage House, a boutique bed & breakfast and event venue in Opelika. We live on site in a separate, private residence. This is our full time job so at least one of us would pretty much always be around while hosting your dog. Our living space is on a second floor so your dog must be able to navigate stairs OR be a small enough dog that we can easily carry them up and down safely. We only care for one dog at a time (or two dogs from the same house) and we have no other animals in the house so your pup(s) will have our full attention. We don't typically book stays for further than 4 or so months out simply because we aren't sure of our personal and work schedules that far in advance.

We have a small fenced section of the property for letting your dog out on short breaks and would also be taking lots of walks, as needed, around our very safe neighborhood. We are flexible based on your dog's needs and could do crating if necessary, but we prefer to let well behaved, house trained pups run free in the house.

Please make sure your dog's profile is updated with all the relevant information for us to make sure they are happy and healthy. In particular outline feeding schedule and amounts, any medications we need to administer and tips for getting them to take the meds, activity level and needs, how they interact with people and other pets, and anything else we should be aware of. The more information the better!
A typical day
We generally let the dog out in the yard to potty and feed them breakfast first thing in the morning. Once we are done with our morning work we'll take them for a walk. Depending on the day we may be with them all day long or leave them alone for some time if we have a busy work day. But even in that case one of us will almost be around to give them attention and let our for mid day potty breaks. We feed and go for another walk in the evening. If your dog gets along well with others we try to make a stop at the dog park for some play time. They will be let out once more to potty before bed. If your pup likes to play fetch or needs other attention we are happy to do it. We love dogs and do everything we can to make their stay comfortable and stimulating.

We recently had to say goodbye to our elderly dog and while we aren't ready to find a new four-legged friend we want to take care of yours! We have had multiple dogs throughout our lives and have taken care of lots of dogs of all kinds for our friends.

We couldn't have asked for better sitters for Luna! This was our first time leaving her, so I was naturally a little nervous, but they made the entire experience stress-free. They sent pictures and updates every day, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear she wasn't just being watched, she was truly being cared for. They took her on walks to the dog park, brought her along while running errands, and even included her when spending time with friends. Seeing how happy and loved she was made it so much easier to be away. I would absolutely trust them with Luna again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for kind, caring, and reliable pet sitters.
Exceptional Care for Zuri & Toby! We cannot say enough wonderful things about Leif and Dani! They watched our two dogs, Zuri and Toby, and treated them as if they were their very own. From start to finish, it was clear that our dogs were the focus of their attention. They kept us updated with outstanding feedback, including photos and videos that were so incredibly good we are going to use them in a photo album! Knowing they were being walked, thoroughly entertained, and looked after in such an exemplary manner allowed us to completely relax. It truly felt like a vacation for us and a vacation for our dogs. We will be using Leif and Dani again for our next trip. If you want peace of mind and top-tier care for your pups, look no further!
