Former New York book and magazine editor back home to care for aging parent and our beloved critters friends as a side gig. I grew up with a variety of animal friends including cats, dogs, goats, hamsters, birds, bunnies, and a very special Quarter horse who was remarkable with children. I’m familiar with many different breeds, from Russian Blues to Tabbies, tiny Terriers to large Australian Shepherds, Dalmations, Huskies, and pets of all ages. Experienced with the special needs of our spice-of-life Rescues and Strays, too.

Ratings and reviews
Very kind, accommodating, and loving. I've used Leah twice in ten days and will definitely call her again.

So kind and welcoming. Will definitely use her again and again!

Requested Leah last minute due to my regular dog sitter falling through the day before traveling and she was super easy to coordinate with. I came home to 2 very happy pets which shows the care and attention she gave them. Leah will be my go to from now on.

Leah is a very responsible person who truly enjoys caring for animals. She is very caring and sensitive to the needs of aging pets. She loves playing, walking and preparing good meals for pets. I can highly recommend Leah for a pet sitter, she’s grown up and cared for pets for most of her life.
Leah was a great caregiver for my 2 cats. She kept me informed about what they did during her visits and took plenty of pictures. I reached out to her last minute and she was able to schedule me in. My cats were happy and I would definitely use her again in the future.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I’m unable to host pets in my home at the moment, but will be able to in a few months, so am willing to work in a freebie if you give me a trial! :) am happy to come to you and give your critter children all the cuddles or space they need, I follow the client and the animal's lead. I will let the pet come to me at first or approach them slowly, making sure they can get my scent, and am patient in making sure they feel comfortable. I believe in a gentle touch when it comes to grooming, especially for our aging beloveds. Familiar with med administration and special dietary needs, including cooking and making organic food. Animals are one of the biggest gifts we’ve been given, I do everything I can to return the love and support they so unconditionally give to us in spades. I've also been known to leave a special little sketch or poem for your pet as thanks.
A typical day
I aim for at least 10,000 steps a day and believe a long walk is the best medicine, only made better by a canine companion. Am happy to stroller or carry our smaller legged or disabled pets so that they can enjoy the outdoors, too. I can handle highly active dogs, though not huge ones as I am a smaller dog myself :) unless they are older and more chill or very well trained and won't pull a ton. I love a good game of fetch, keepaway, any activity that seems to make them happy. I like to explore and am open to suggestions regarding your pet's favorite places, as well. I'm also very patient if they want to stop every five seconds for sniffs, but do keep a close eye in case they gobble something they shouldn't :)

- Let me know of any special needs, medications, if a pet is spooked by certain things (especially in an urban environment), or has an aggressive history. I look forward to making another furry friend!
