Pet care experience

WFH to give lots of attention &love

Hey! I work from home in Falmouth with my labradoodle Basalt (3). He's a total sweetheart and gets on great with other dogs. I've looked after family and friends' dogs for years now, plus a handful through Rover. I also did puppy classes with my own dog, Basalt, back when he was young, which taught me loads about reading dogs and handling all sorts of situations. I'm a big believer in reward-based training and just treating dogs with kindness, honestly I just love dogs and it shows in how I look after them. No official certificates or anything, just a lot of genuine, hands-on experience and care. I've kept my rates on the friendly side, partly because I'm easing back in after some time away, and partly because I know how pricey pet care can add up for owners.

Leah was amazing! Pig stayed for 2 nights while we were away with friends. We received lovely updates and photos to see how Pig was getting on.

Would absolutely recommend Leah & have her look after Mylo again. Thank you for keeping us posted with photos and being so caring with him just like your own, it really helped us to relax knowing he was in great hands and in a lovely homely environment. Thank you.

Tony had the best time with Leah and Basalt! We felt completely comfortable leaving Tony in Leah’s care and it looks like Tony has made a best friend for life 😊 Thank you and would definitely book again.

Leah was absolutely fantastic with Jess whilst we were away on holiday! It was the first time we had left her without family but the daily updates and pictures definitely helped put our worries at ease. Jess enjoyed lots of walks and playing with Leah’s own dog. She seemed very at home by the time we came to collect her at the end of the week. Would definitely recommend!

Schedule

Since I work from home full-time, pet care isn't something I have to squeeze in around a job, it's just naturally part of my day. Weekdays are my main availability, with weekends possible occasionally if someone asks. Day care is what I mainly offer, so a dog would be with me from drop-off to pick-up, and I arrange my day around them. Overnights are something I can do too, just on a more occasional, by-request basis rather than every week. The house itself is a relaxed, calm environment, we're a pretty chill household, so there's no chaos or rush, just a comfortable place for dogs to settle in, relax and feel at home for the day.

Safety, trust & environment

Downstairs is all open plan with doors out to a small, fully fenced garden, and dogs get free run of the place, sofas included, we just shut the bedroom doors upstairs for safety. Dogs are welcome in my office upstairs too, but if one seems more settled downstairs, that's where I'll set up and work instead. Since I'm home all day either way, there's always someone around. My home: I take one household at a time (happy to have two dogs if they're from the same home), so things stay calm and I can properly keep an eye on everyone. Works best for easy-going, small-to-medium dogs I know I can hold onto confidently, it's less about size, more about being sure I can keep things safe if a dog pulls or something goes sideways. My own dog is around throughout and is great with visiting dogs.

Pets

A typical day

Morning: Quick walk before I start work, mostly just for a toilet break and sniffs. Daytime: Free roam of downstairs, lots of sofa time, and me around all day. Happy to squeeze in a lunchtime walk too if that works better for your dog. If I head out anywhere during the day, the dogs come along with me too Evening: A longer walk, on-lead or off, depending on what you're comfortable with and where we head out, I like to mix up the route so it stays interesting for them

Leah can host up to 2 dogs per day
Let me know ahead of time if your dog needs any extra care, for example, I'm happy to help with ear cleaning for dogs prone to infections (mine needs his done twice a week!) only as long as they're comfortable with it. Since I only host one household at a time, it also helps to flag your dog’s quirks, how they are on lead, and any extra care needs.
