Pet care experience

North Tyne K9

🐾 About Me: North Tyne K9 Hi I’m Laylee, a dog lover with 11 years experience in pet care, dog walking and pet sitting on an ad hoc basis, as well as caring for my boxer, who I trained from a puppy. After my dog died in 2023 I started working with dogs full-time and set up North Tyne K9 on Rover when I moved to Northumberland in 2024. I love being around dogs, interacting with them through play, training, out in nature on walks, and relaxing on the sofa with them after a day of doing all these things. I love learning about canine behaviour and psychology, different breeds, their temperaments, traits and instincts. I have a Level 2 qualification in Canine Care and Welfare, and a Level 3 qualification in Canine First Aid, which included being shown how to give health checks, signs and symptoms of common issues and diseases, and CPR. I’ve also worked with rescue dogs in the Caribbean and street dogs in Iran, so have a good understanding of different kinds of dogs and their needs. ✨ DAY CARE I offer one-to-one care in your dogs own home, not a multi-dog daycare setup. Your dog has my full attention, and my day is structured around their needs. That means proper walks, time outdoors in nature, and a relaxed environment where your dog can settle and be at home. This is ideal for dogs who: Prefer a quieter, low-stress environment Need consistency and routine Enjoy proper walks and stimulation Don’t thrive in busy group daycare settings What’s included: 1:1 care throughout the day Structured routine tailored to your dog 2–3 quality walks (depending on your dog’s needs) plus toilet breaks A calm home environment with plenty of attention Price: £35 a day to reflect the level of care, time, and attention your dog receives, and helps with transport costs to your home. ✨ HOUSESITTING Dedicated 1:1 care and peace of mind that your pet and home are safe and well-looked after. My baseline rate of £60 per 24hrs reflects a fully dedicated, premium service and the level of care and commitment I provide. Your pets get a disciplined, focused sitter who keeps their routine identical to when you are home. I focus on keeping life as normal as possible for them, from walks and feeding times to companionship and downtime. Please note: My base rate covers standard domestic pets. Custom quotes are required for multi-pet households, farm/poultry care, or specialized behavioral handling. Note: I’ll be taking on very limited bookings for overnight sits from 2027 onwards. ✨DOG WALKING Solo walks (one dog, or up to two from the same household). 1 Dog: £20 per hour Additional pet (same household): +£10 Note: Rate based on “paws on the ground” i.e. I don’t charge for travel time, and depending on time constraints can often stay out longer than an hour with no extra charge!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety, trust & environment: I follow your instructions and requirements depending on the home and area. Just let me know during the meet and greet and the pet care form. Finding the right fit: I’m passionate about providing calm, attentive care, so it’s important that we’re a good match. I’m best suited to dogs who can settle indoors between activities and who are physically manageable on lead. While I have experience with mild reactivity and focus work, I’m not able to care for dogs whose behaviour involves strong lunging and barking around other dogs or people, particularly in larger or stronger dogs where there is a risk of injury or loss of control. To ensure safety and quality of care, I intentionally keep numbers low - typically up to two small dogs together, or one larger dog at a time.

Laylee cared wonderfully for our wolfhound during our recent holiday, including managing a healthcare situation where her allergies flared up. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter.

Laylee was great with both dogs she bonded almost immediately with them, calm and confident she handled them well. Both are young energetic and eager but she wasn’t fazed and they had a great time with her. What was appreciated was the fact that rather than second guess a situation she was happy to ask for guidance. One 2 minute phone call over bedtime protocols settled everything. Thank you Laylee.

Laylee was a great sitter. Gave Bess some good walks and probably lots of hugs and attention. I think Bess missed her when she was gone. I would love to ask Laylee to care for my dog again and would certainly recommend her to care for your pet and home. Thank you Laylee 😃

Laylee was an absolute star. Her response time to initial emails was spot on. She did a meet/ greet and quickly made friends, playing with our elderly dog. She came early to do our sit which was greatly appreciated. She took our dog on lots of adventures including an appointment we had arranged at the vets. She was happy to give our dog meds three times a day and soon got to know her quirks and habits. Laylee sent daily updates and photos which was so reassuring. We could not recommend Laylee highly enough. Thank you Rover for a great first experience.

On time and very nice with our animals. They can be a little tricky but Laylee seem to gave the nick. Will use her services again if she is willing in the future.

Schedule

Schedule: If I’m pet sitting I include dogs in day-to-day activities where appropriate and safe, always following owner preferences. Our daily routine would most likely be walks, playtime (if they like playing), basic training if requested, mealtimes, and chilling on the sofa in the evenings. If your dog is good with people I enjoy taking a dog with me to a dog friendly cafe or pub for food, usually after a walk once a week. Incase we use the car during a sit my business insurance covers pet transportation and I have seatbelts for dogs. I also have a ramp for dogs who need help getting in and out. When they’re in my car I’m happy for them to sit where they normally would when they’re with you. As long as you can provide a harness so that I can strap them in safely 😊

Important to know in advance: Things I like to know in the initial messages are whether your pet has any special needs, behavioural needs or challenges, or health conditions so that I can decide if we’d be a good fit before booking a meet & greet. If the meet & greet goes well and we’re a good fit I’ll send you a pet care form which asks for any info like daily routine and feeding schedule, favourite games and activities, favourite walks and terrains, any command words that they know, vet info etc. This is so I have all the info I need once the sit begins, and can refer to it if needed. The meet and greet itself is focused on getting to know your dog and taking them for a short walk to see how they do on lead, around dogs, and recall (if off lead) and of course so you can get to know me so you have peace of mind! I have experience with a variety of breeds, but for safety reasons I currently only accept dogs within a size or strength range that I can comfortably and confidently handle.
