Before caring for a dog or cat, I like to understand their routine and personality so I can make them feel as comfortable as possible. It is helpful to know their feeding schedule, walking routine, favourite activities, and any commands they are familiar with. I also like to know about their temperament, for example whether they are shy, energetic, or nervous around other dogs or new environments. Any medical needs, allergies, or medications are also important to be aware of. Finally, it is helpful to know what helps your dog feel relaxed and happy, such as their favourite toys, sleeping habits, or anything they may be afraid of. This allows me to provide the best possible care and ensure they feel safe and at ease while you are away.

A typical day depends on the pet’s usual routine, which I always try to follow as closely as possible. For dogs, the day would usually start with a morning walk or playtime, followed by breakfast and some time to relax. Throughout the day I make sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, and stimulating activities such as their favourite games, as well as additional walks if needed. For cats, especially during house sitting, I make sure they are fed according to their routine, their litter tray is kept clean, and that they receive attention, playtime, and affection if they enjoy it. I understand that some cats prefer quiet companionship rather than constant interaction, so I always adapt to their personality. In the evening there is usually another walk or play session for dogs, followed by dinner and a calm wind down. I also like to send owners regular updates and photos so they can feel reassured that their pet is happy and well cared for.
