Thank you for choosing The Dog House for your boarding needs. I have cared for over 1150 dogs in 11.5 years of boarding. The vast majority of these have enjoyed their times with us, as witnessed by the large number of positive reviews we've received. I'll treat your dog with love, kindness and respect. Your dog will be safe, happy, well-exercised and well-cared for during their stay, and excited to see you on your return. Please know that I rarely agree to board a dog without meeting the dog and owner first. I DO NOT wish to board any PIT BULL TERRIERS or PIT BULL MIXES for liability reasons. NOR do I wish to board any puppies under eight months. All dogs MUST be house-trained [potty-, chew- and no digging-trained] and neutered or spayed, for expense reasons. I am currently retired full time and enjoy having guest dogs in our home. We protect and spoil them! HVAC on sun porch for dogs. We have a fenced yard. We will give your dog short [around the block] walks during their stay.. Text us! We specialize in long term stays [up to 2 months so far] and older dogs.

Val is wonderful! When we, and our greyhound Stella, first met him she took a liking to Val and was at ease around him. He spent time with us answering our questions and we felt very comfortable leaving Stella with him. He sent us photos and updates during the week she stayed with him. Stella couldn't be in better hands when we're away!
Val and his wife took such amazing care of my dog. She was well-loved and they are truly the kindest people. It was my first time using rover and will definitely be a repeat customer in the future. Thanks again!
Had a great experience leaving our dog with Val...our pup is very attuned and connected to 'his' people so we were wondering how he would adapt to a few days away from us. Thanks to the friendly and kind care at Val's, he did great - he may have missed us but easily made connections at Val's, played with other dogs, and seemed to be adapting well. Val sent great pics to put our minds at ease, and gave a good accounting when we picked our boy up. He was happy to see us but in no way stressed, it was a great success! We appreciate Val taking such good care of our dog!
LAVAL [VAL] S. cancelled a booking 3 days before it was scheduled to begin.
Val and his wife were able to take our dog, Ollie, on very short notice. They were kind, knowledgeable, and took excellent care of our family member while we were gone. They provided frequent updates on how our dog was doing through near-daily texts and photos. If we ever have to leave our dog with a sitter in the future, they will be our first choice.
My dogs are anxious travelers and they seemed to have a great time with Val.

I am retired. Keep me busy so I have less time for my wife to find things for me to do to fill my day. :)

Safety, trust & environment
We have a fenced yard for security. We never leave the property with dogs left out in the yard. We give each dog a walk around the block every day. We also keep the dogs warm in winter and cool in summer. Several water bowls are refreshed daily. Blanket-covered couches, chairs and beds are available for dogs to lounge, unless you prefer otherwise.
A typical day
I play with those dogs that enjoy that. I occasionally teach a dog a new trick while they are with us. We give carefully selected treats if the owner approves. We dutifully administer meds when asked to do that.
