Pets

Safety, trust & environment

When offering pet care services, whether in my home or your home, the approach and considerations can vary to ensure the pets are happy, safe, and healthy. Here's a breakdown of how to approach pet care in both settings: In mt Home Prepare a Safe Space: Ensure my home is pet-proofed, removing any hazards or toxic substances pets can chew on or swallow. Have a dedicated space where the pet can feel secure and comfortable. Establish a Routine: Try to maintain the pet's usual feeding, walking, and playtime routine to minimize stress and anxiety. Provide Adequate Exercise: Depending on the pet's energy level and breed, provide appropriate exercise through walks, play sessions, or access to a secure backyard. Socialization: If you have pets, introduce them slowly and carefully to ensure they get along with the visiting pet. Monitor their interactions. Personal Attention: Spend quality time with each pet to provide affection and mental stimulation. This can include grooming, cuddling, and interactive play. Health Care: Administer any required medications and be prepared to handle emergencies by knowing the location of the nearest vet. In your Home Respect the Space: I treat the client's home with respect, ensuring it's as clean (or cleaner) when they return. This includes properly disposing of pet waste. Stick to the Pet’s Routine: Maintain the pet's normal feeding, walking, and playtime schedule to provide a sense of stability. Ensure Security: Always double-check that doors and gates are securely locked after you enter or exit the premises to prevent the pet from escaping. Daily Updates: Keep the pet owner updated with daily texts, photos, or videos to reassure them that their pet is in good hands. Emergency Preparedness: Know the location of the nearest veterinary hospital and have the pet owner's contact information readily available in case of emergencies. Home Care Tasks: If agreed upon, perform additional tasks like bringing in mail, watering plants, or other simple chores to help maintain the home.

Laurie did a wonderful job tending to my dog. She was always on time both picking up and returning my dog. She asked me beforehand if it was alright to give treats. She showed great care and I would recommend her to anyone.
