Pet care experience

Augusta Pet Companion

I've taken care of tons of animals ranging from horses to cheetahs to bears to puppies. I have worked at several animal rescue organizations and a couple zoos over the years as well. Working with the Cheetah Conservation Fund, the Maryland Horse Rescue, and the Oahu SPCA, I learned a great deal about proper animal care and fell in love with taking care of a wide range of fur babies. Know that your fur baby will be in loving and capable hands with me.

Laurie was amazing. She took Penny for over three weeks while we were out of the country. We received daily reports with photos and careful attention to specialized feeding and medication needs. We have been working on weight loss for an extended period. While at Laurie's Penny lost 4 pounds due to exercise and careful diet monitoring. We couldn't recommend Laurie more.

Laurie was beyond excellent! I had a 2-week-long vacation and was nervous about leaving my 5 and 1/2-month-old puppy (Darla) at a boarding facility. I decided to use Rover and within a few hours of my initial message, we were planning a quick meeting for Laurie and Darla to meet. She answered a lot of my questions and was very sweet. I instantly felt better about leaving for my trip. During the two weeks, Darla got multiple daily walks, many cuddles, and constant playtime. We received daily updates with how Darla was doing, her walks, and silly things she did. Plus, TONS of pictures. When we picked up Darla, she was very happy to see us, but you can see that she would miss her time with Laurie. I highly recommend Laurie, and if I wasn’t moving away in a few months, she would be a lifetime dog sitter for Darla!!!

Laurie was phenomenal! Our girl Violet is a nervous pup, but loved Laurie instantly. She took such good care of her, including walks and brushing! We were fighting against the pending ice storm to get home, trying to get new flights; it was uncertain if we’d make it back before the storm or if we’d be flying home in the middle of it. Laurie was ready to take Violet to her house in case the road conditions became impossible and in case we were stranded. We’ve never had someone take such thoughtful care of our pup!

Laurie is an exceptional pet owner and an incredibly responsible caregiver. She has cats of her own and truly adores them. Laurie is extremely meticulous and attentive, not only with her pets but with her home, her routines, and her responsibilities. She pays close attention to details, follows instructions carefully, and genuinely prioritizes the well-being and comfort of the animals she cares for. I honestly don’t know anyone I would trust more with my pet while I am away. Knowing Laurie is caring for them brings complete peace of mind.

Laurie watched my cat during a family emergency and was such a terrific caretaker. She was very attentive and kind and kept us updated. She fed and cleaned after him for the two weeks we needed and gave him back just the way we left him. I would not hesitate to ask her to pet sit again. She has a genuine care for animals and goes above and beyond to make sure they are well cared for.

Safety, trust & environment

A safe and trusting environment will be my top priority and I will make sure to structure my sitting time depending on the needs of the pet in question. Creating a calm and attentive environment is priority 1, where the pet knows they have someone there to look after. Long walks and structure feeding times will be integral to keeping the pups entertained and let them know they are not being forgotten. Checking paws after walks is also an important step I make sure to never forget. I will always make sure I am available to a pup to meet their needs whenever possible and keep owners updated in cases of emergency.
