Safety, trust & environment

Caring for pets in your clients’ homes is a big responsibility — and also a huge trust. Below is a breakdown of how I provide top-notch in-home pet care: 📝 1. Do a Thorough Meet & Greet Before the first visit: • Meet the pet(s) and owners in person • Learn their routine, feeding schedule, medication needs, and quirks • Ask for emergency contacts, vet info, and any behavioral notes ⸻ 🐕 2. Stick to Their Routine Pets thrive on consistency, so I’m sure to follow the pet’s usual: • Feeding times and food preferences • Potty breaks or litter box cleaning • Walks, exercise, and playtime • Sleep routines (where they like to sleep, night lights, etc.) 💊 3. Administer Medications Safely If meds are required: • Confirm dosage and timing in writing • Ask for a demonstration if it’s a pill, injection, or topical • Track every dose you give 4. Provide Regular Updates Give peace of mind by sending: • Daily (or visit-by-visit) updates via text or app • Photos or short videos of their pets • Notes about mood, eating, bathroom habits, etc. 🧹 5. Respect Their Home • Clean up after the pets (accidents, shedding, dishes) • Water plants or bring in mail if requested • Leave the home just as you found it — or better ⸻ ⏰ 6. Be Dependable & Timely • Show up on time, every time • Stick to the visit schedule (especially for potty breaks!) • Let clients know immediately if anything changes ⸻ 🧠 7. Stay Calm & Prepared • Keep emergency numbers handy • Know basic pet first aid • Have a plan for unexpected situations (storms, illness, lockouts)
