A Paw To Hold

Pet care experience

I am a Navy veteran of 5 years. Being in the Navy taught a lot about what I wanted out of life and myself, and there are two lessons that stuck out. 1. It taught me life is too short to not work in a field that fulfills you. 2. It taught me what dedicated hard work looks like and engraved that in me. I decided after some soul searching I wanted to have a career in the field of animals. I went to Veterinary technician school and got my degree and my license in Georgia once I moved here. I simultaneously started pet care through Rover while in Pittsburgh and a few companies including my own when I moved here! I do enjoy being a nurse, but I enjoy the personalization I get with the pets and owners doing pet care. I have taken two courses online in dog training, one specifically in Clicker Training by the certified trainer Karen Pryor, and the other in dog specific characteristics and how to handle them. Although I am not yet a certified trainer, it is a goal and I study it often, I will help with the knowledge I have if I can! I study canine behavior daily. I work for Petzey virtual veterinary care if you have a medical problem you can find me a phone call away through the Petzey app! I am currently enrolled in school for a BA in Animal Health and Behavior. I truly believe animals are a gift to us. Their loyalty and love is irreplaceable. It is something you can only find in owning a pet. I would love to help care for your dog, cat, small mammal, or reptile! I have owned and cared for a variety of pets, and if I have not yet met your specific pet of joy, I am not afraid to learn from your guidance! I am very interested in animal behavior and naturopathic care. I can give your pet any special food or medication they need, and feel free to tell me anything special you want your pet to have and I’ll do my best to make it happen! Cannot wait to meet your best friends! Thank you for taking the time to look into my pet sitting service. ••••If mom and/or dad allow I will give your pets frozen stuffed Kongs and lick pads for enrichment activities!•••• Check out my Instagram @apawtohold or find me on Facebook! ****Pets do have to be kid and dog friendly to come stay with us!**** *****I can do appointments for nail trims and medications.*****

Lauren and her hubby are always so awesome with our big baby Thor. Even though we moved and are a little farther from her now, we still choose to drive the distance to make sure he is left in great hands. Thank you again Lauren!

Lauren was great and easy to talk to. She gave us updates throughout the day on our dog. Her set up was great and her dogs were friendly with ours. I highly recommend her anytime you need a sitter for your pup!

*I do require the DHPP and Rabies within 3 years or titer testing to be done. I leave non-core (kennel-cough, influenza, lepto, and Lyme) up to owners discretion. Anytime there are multiple dogs there is a chance of dog flu or influenza being caught, and being in the swamp land there can be ticks in the area.)* Because I do leave the house from time to time and I also will take dog walks/check-ins if I get any so I do require dogs to be crate trained if there is any chance of separation anxiety or chance the dog can get into something. I do have a lot of gates up but I am sure some dogs could break them down and I have toddler toys in my living area. I believe having a crate trained dog is always a good idea for many reasons! I spend a lot of time outdoors with the dogs, if I am out they typically are! I have outdoor dog beds in shaded areas, lots of toys, and plan to get some dog obstacle courses. If the dog prefers to stay in of course they can! I do ask if your dog has separation anxiety to let me know ahead of time! I have Kongs and dog puzzles if your dog is interested in them and will keep them mentally stimulated! If the dog prefers they can sleep on my bed with us at night! We have a giant bed for this reason and have the attitude of "Bring on the dog fur!"

I love all breeds. I myself like to own big dogs, but love small dogs too! Feeding details, health concerns, what he or she likes to do, and personality are all great questions I would like to get from the owners.

A typical day
