Pet care experience

Doggy nanny available

My house welcomes dogs of all ages and breeds under 40 pounds. Pets are allowed on furniture (how else would they see the movie?) and are fed to the owners instructions and have an eating area of their own. We have a large fenced area for play time and exercise with supervision. The area is mowed grass and is kept free of any possible things dogs love to get into. We also clean up our yard as needed each time they are outside. Walks on leash as requested will be performed as well. No pet will be outside unless accompanied. All pets sleep inside, not in a garage or on a patio. We do own one medium sized, friendly, socialized dog and a small dog who is "heavy set", so by weight he is medium sized. Your pet will suffer less anxiety while you are gone if they stay in a family environment versus a kennel or pound. About this sitter: Life long animal care experience. Have delivered litters, worked with veterinarians plus have some medical knowledge. Able to recognize animals personalities and perceptions. Very in tune with how an animal is dealing with their surroundings. Why I love dog sitting The sun was shining in beautiful Sunnyvale, CA during a summer day. Most folks kept doors and windows open to let any breeze that may come by through their homes to cool down. My dad's mother had come to visit us and she loved when the neighbor dog would come on over and just let himself in our house to check out what mom had in the kitchen. This day however, I spotted the dog coming up our driveway from our garage where I was hanging out with my dad. The Golden Retriever came right up to me so I took hold of his collar so he would not go inside the house. He turned around and I decided to get him back to the sidewalk and send him on his way. I remember his thick woven collar and his wispy fur in my fingers as I help on to him. It must have been about 4pm as when I looked down the street the sun was warn on my face and was just starting to be to bright to look into. Suddenly my folks were shouting my mom came running out to the curb and yelled for me. I wondered what the problem was...all I was doing was walking the retriever down the sidewalk...was my mom freaking out because I was not using a leash or something??? No, it was the fact that I was 2 and the retriever had taken me at least a half dozen houses down the block. The dogs collar was at my face height...perfect for me to hold on to and get down the street without falling down. I don't think I had ever made it that far that fast and it was so fun to see my parents panic :) And how impressive it was that I had a non-human friend who was my partner in crime! The dog went home but still continued to visit. Everyone on the street knew that dog and I remember him as my walking coach. So, I've been a dog lover for over four decades. Meet my pets Cat. About my yard The area in the back is approx. 20X25 yards, flat, green grass and is fully fenced with tall fences, at least 6.5 to 7 feet tall. There are cherry blossom trees which give wonderful shade and keeps the grass soft and cool in the summer. I have a fully fenced in patio off my dining room where the dogs can sun themselves and help me watch the BBQ.

Lauren took such great care of Fox while we were gone. She and her son asked us great questions at our meet and greet that let us know he was in good hands. Her last minute flexibility was so appreciated so we could enjoy our trip. The photo updates let us know he was relaxed, cozy, and not anxious or distressed. Thank you Lauren!

Lucky had a great experience adventuring with Lauren. He’s a lively senior (turning 16 in a few days) a Lauren did a great job keeping him active and happy! We both look forward to many more good days together at her place.

My pup is a bit scared with new introductions, but by the time I picked him up from Lauren’s place he was happy and getting along with everyone. I think he enjoyed the attention and care he received. Lauren and her son were great with him and gave him medications as directed, and kept me informed of how he was doing.

Schedule

I am retired, now home 24/7, unless I go to the grocery store or short errands. I love pet care because with pets, I am in the best of company.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 2 dogs
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

This is covered in a Meet n Greet, as each guest is different and will have tailored needs met. I am attentive to all guests and my pups 24/7. Yes, that means if someone wants to go potty at 3am, I get up and take them out to do their business, and they do get a treat for good potty. A treat at 3am is better than me finding weewee or poopoo at 8am. LOL!

Pets

A typical day

We live 4th house up from the private beach here. It is in a bay, with calm water and a cement boat ramp we can walk down to be on the sand. We follow leash laws, and I have a baby stroller I can take along to bring tired dogs back home. I LOVE IT! Also, I have two different yards, one grass, one new which will have woodchips, kiddie playpools for the dogs when it is hot out, and a fully enclosed and covered deck where they can run or bask in morning sunshine. Each guest has cuddle time during movies at night, and I dependent brushing and ear, eye, butt check. I have a supply of toys, balls, chewers like tendons, antlers, hooves, all sized for smaller dogs. All guests are welcome to be with dog buddies, or have an area to themselves for security, privacy and rest.

The most important thing I need to know about your furbaby is... what they need and what you want me to provide. Being that I limit my guests to under 40 pounds, and I focus on adult/senior dogs, I want to know how I can make my home as comfortable as yours, so your dog has a home-away-from-home as the best of my ability. I do accommodate dogs who do not like activity around them or in the house. I can give guests a private quiet area, away from others in my room or my second room, where they can rest and not be awakened by others barking at leaves or birds outside.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
