Pet care experience

Loving friend to cats and dogs!

1) During summers when I was off from college, I worked as a summer veterinary assistant when I initially planned to go to vet school. During this time I've learned how to walk dogs, administer medication (pills and injections such as insulin), clean kennels, observe pets for any health/behavioral concerns, and handle different species in a low stress manner. 2) When I was in college I volunteered at a cat TNR shelter and have 4 years of cat handling and behavioral experience. I've become what was known as the "spicy" cat lady since I got very good at handling all the feral cats and kittens that came into the shelter! 3) I have my Fear Free certification under veterinary handling, so I am familiar with how to handler senior cats and dogs who experience conditions like arthritis 4) I got my Masters in Animal Biology (that's why I have the pun in my headline haha!), with my thesis focusing on cat behavior regarding the relationship between cats and owners in veterinary settings. I'm currently about to go for my PhD in dog and cat behavior research! All in all, I love cats so much I went to school to learn more about them, and I love dogs just as much that I'm going back to school for more!

Safety, trust & environment

Pet Sitting Care: I will ensure playtime, cleaned litter boxes, and water bowl checks every visit. For feeding times, I would follow the directed feeding plan (and possible medication plans) given to me in advance. Every visit I make sure to also do a wellness picture of the pet, and an update on how your fur baby is doing. I also like to hang around the house for 20-30 minutes just to keep them company since they can get lonely. If I have time I might stay longer, especially if they are showing signs of wanting more attention. Dog Walking: I will ensure the dog is comfortable by walking at the speed and distance the dog can go which will be discussed with the client prior, bring water with me (especially in the summer heat) for the dog to drink from, and go on paths the dog is comfortable and familiar with. I typically walk dogs in the neighborhood rather than take them in my car. If I have any concerns, I will always contact the client immediately.

Lauren was amazing! I needed her last minute to assist my dog who was just hit by a car while I was at work for a long day. She was able to administer the dog her meds, and take extra care needed for her state. She offered for a meet and greet first as she pointed out my profile said the dog was shy- and has anxiety and wanted to make sure she wouldn’t be alarmed with a stranger coming to assist her. Thx so much Lauren you are much appreciated!!!

Lauren is fantastic! I cannot recommend her highly enough!!! My cat is diabetic and needs insulin shots every 12 hours and I have been so impressed by Lauren's level of care. She always makes sure he gets his medicine on time and gives me updates so I'm not worried. Luca (my cat) LOVES Lauren - I can always tell when a petsitter has paid attention to him and he is always so happy and healthy when I come home. You and your babies are in GREAT hands with Lauren!

I have entrusted my cats to Lauren's care on multiple occasions, and she has always been loving and attentive to them. My cats absolutely adore her! Lauren is highly responsible and brings extensive experience with cats of all ages, gained from her work at a cat shelter and a pet clinic. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

Schedule

Since I mostly work from home, I have decent flexibility throughout the day and can stop by for both pet sitting and walking when needed.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Lauren can host up to 2 drop-ins per day
1) What behaviors they are allowed/not allowed to do (sitting on couch, using peepads in the house or only peeing outside, scratching on couch) so that I can ensure they don't perform those while clients are away 2) What treats they can have and how many a day. I like to give some as a form of enrichment or just for good behavior, but I want to make sure I'm not giving too much
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
