Pet care experience

Seasoned, enthusiastic pet sitter!

I grew up with two labs and often helped walk them and give them baths. We also had two cats; I likewise helped feed them and changed their litter. I even administered insulin shots to our diabetic kitty. When I was an au pair during college, part of my responsibilities included helping take care of the two family dogs. I walked them a few times a week, usually in wooded trails, plus occasionally fed them and took them to the vet. A roommate I lived with for two years had a dog whom I doted on as if she were my own! I would take her to the park to run around, and looked after her in his absence when he went out of town. I've also dog and cat-sat many times over the years for friends, family members, acquaintances, and two neighborhood pet care companies, and have several regular clients.

Safety, trust & environment

As my boyfriend's cat is scared of other animals, I am not able to board pets in my home for the time being. Except for in very rare cases, then, I stay in clients' homes when I care for their animals. I understand that cats and dogs need companionship and interaction, so I prioritize spending as much time with them as possible even if I can't be present 24/7. I always make sure I understand clients' house rules clearly (when to take out the trash, where I can sleep, whether or not I can have people over, etc.) and clean up after myself thoroughly before I leave.

Laurel was great watching our child Louie :) She was attentive, quick to communicate, and sent us pics of our baby. Loved having her dog sit for us!

We’ve used Laurel twice now to take care of our dogs and have had great experiences! She’s clearly a dog lover and very comfortable handling them, and they both warmed up to her very quickly. One of our dogs is diabetic and needs insulin shots, and she was comfortable giving those and following his strict schedule which we really appreciate. Our other dog had an unexpected injury prior to her staying over with them, and she was flexible to the addition of medications and schedule changes as well.

Laurel was great with Freya, sent us pictures and updates daily so we know our pup was in the best of hands! She would be our go-to dog sitter again!

Laurel stayed for a week at our place with our greyhound and cat. She was super easy to coordinate with, had great communication, the pets were happy and content when we got home, and the house clean! Would definitely book with Laurel again.

Laurel took great care of my cat Cleo and was a great house guest while I was away for the week! She made being away from Cleo stress-free and provided updates throughout the week. Laurel was great at following any instructions I had about feeding/medicine, and kept up with Cleo’s routine. She also took great care of my apartment! Thanks again, Laurel :)

Schedule

I work from home most of the time as a transcriber for deaf and hard of hearing college students; my workload is lighter during the summer than during the school year. I'm also a musician and play gigs anywhere from 0 to 4 times a month, and I clean a VRBO about once a week. Most days, I can spend lots of time with your pets and attend to them during breaks in my schedule. If I need to go out, it's only for a few hours at a time, max. As much as possible, I try to schedule my cleaning and music gigs so that they don't interfere with my pet sitting responsibilities.

Does your dog get along with other dogs or should we keep our distance? Does your dog typically chew anything in the home, such as shoes or electric cables? Is your dog scared of anything in particular, such as cyclists? Is it ok for strangers to pet your dog? Does your dog eat their food right away or graze throughout the day? Do I have any reason to fear that your dog might get aggressive with me?
