Pet care experience

Leave your pets in good hands!

Hi! I’m Laurel! I’m a 21 year old college student with a passion for animals. I have been building my business, Fingers and Paws Pet Care, since May of 2025! Since then I have served over 30 happy clients, many of whom schedule regular walks/visits! I am committed to providing pets with a safe and engaging environment, and pet parents with peace of mind! I have been an animal lover my whole life, and an involved pet owner since elementary school! I began pet sitting for neighbors and friends when I was in high school. I stayed in client’s homes while caring for their pets to avoid loneliness or a change in routine. This consisted of preparing meals, feeding, walking, giving potty breaks, playtime and other enrichment activities, as well as retrieving mail, watering plants, and ensuring the house maintains cleanliness. Oftentimes, clients would ask me to care for other animals in the home, such as geckos, turtles, and fish, which I am more than happy to do! I also offered drop in visits for neighbors’ pets in high school. This consisted of stopping by, preparing food, feeding, offering potty breaks, play time, walks, and litter changes if needed. Since starting Fingers and Paws, my pet care experience has increased exponentially. I have increased my range of services and now offer house sitting, boarding, drop in visits, walks, baths, and play sessions.

Laurel is absolutely amazing! She took such great care of Waylon. She communicated with us at each visit and sent pictures. Waylon is going to miss her and all the attention she gives! We would recommend Laurel to any pet owner!

Laurel has done an amazing job with my kitty this week. She is an anxious cat and I can tell from updates and photos that Laurel has do an exceptional job with her. I am so thankful to have found her! It has totally eased my mind knowing Princess was in her care this week.

Safety, trust & environment

Whether I’m hosting a pet or staying in their home, my routine depends on the pet’s routine! I discuss activity levels and a pet’s daily routine with owners before booking a visit. This includes feeding times, walk schedules, potty break schedules, treat schedules, and playtime schedules! Pets are sensitive to changes in their environment, so the goal is to match a pet’s routine as similarly as I can! I live in a condo on the ground floor, which means I have a backyard and can easily bring dogs outside for potty breaks or walks. The condo has three bedrooms so if I’m watching multiple pets, that gives them the opportunity for alone time if needed! I truly enjoy spending time with animals, and your pet will not go without attention or affection while they are with me!

A typical day

A typical day always starts with breakfast and a potty break! Enrichment is something I value highly while caring for pets, so I offer treat puzzles, lick mats and toys, and throw lots of sticks and balls! I’m a big outdoors person- I’m always sitting out on my porch with my cat, Oreo. I love going for walks and exploring with dogs! Usually, after a walk, everybody is worn out so we will cuddle up on the couch and relax! I ensure all of the furry friends I am caring for have cold, fresh, water available at all times since the days are so action-packed! I take special care of senior dogs as well- exercise is just as important for them. Senior dogs will typically come outside to engage in safe activity for a shorter period of time before they go inside to rest. Treats are always an important part of the day, if not the most important!
