Pet care experience
Caregiver seeking new dog friends!
Hi! I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was 12. I’ve loved walking, petting, and playing with dogs of all ages/breeds/sizes for years. My husband and I own two happy canines and have successfully fostered several medium to large-sized dogs. We have experience fostering a range of dogs, from a bouncy lab mix puppy to shut-down, terrified ex puppy-mill mamas. All of our fosters grew to be confident dogs that were adopted into loving homes. Recently we enjoyed ushering three Puerto Rican puppies from PR to Detroit as Flight Angels. We have two teenagers, both of whom are respectful and kind with dogs. Our kids were instrumental in teaching the scared fosters that people can be kind. We only accept one dog at a time (two if from the same family) to make sure all the dogs get enough attention while with us. Rover is something we do for fun and because we love dogs-having one family at a time keeps it fun for us!

Ratings and reviews
Our boys came home exhausted from all the loving and play they got. Laura did a great job caring for our dogs and sharing pictures throughout their stay!

Laura was absolutely wonderful with my dog for an extended stay with her family! They were so patient and kind and took such great care of her. Laura updated me multiple times a day and included lots of pictures and multiple walks per day. I would highly recommend Laura and her pet loving family! 💗
Laura was fantastic with our year and half old Australian shepherd. She sent pictures daily and made sure he had walks and mental exercise. She put my nervous dog mama heart at ease leaving our fur baby for the first time. We will 1000% be using her again in the future.

Laura is absolutely wonderful caring for Max! She always sends a lot of photos and updates. She is a true dog lover and welcomes Max as one of her own!

Laura was amazing! My dog needed some extra love since his foot was injured and she took extra good care of him. She was very communicative and a pleasure to work with.

Laura is terrific with our Ted. She sends regular updates and it's just really nice to feel confident that our pup is happy and well-cared for. Thanks, Laura!!!

Schedule
We work full-time outside the home 4 days a week so our dogs get a walk in the morning at 6:30 a.m. and another at 4:30 when I get home. The dogs are let out sooner than this when my husband gets home a few hours earlier. Due to our work schedule, dogs are alone 7:30-2:30,3-4 days/week. Often we hang out in the back yard playing fetch or scent games with kibble to mentally tire the dogs out. The hours the dogs are home alone are filled with naps, treat puzzles and chew toys. Guest dogs are separated from my dogs when I’m not home for everyone’s safety and are typically given free rein of the living room unless their owners request crating.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
We have a fenced yard, a neighborhood with sidewalks and a trail for long walks, and plenty of comfy dog beds. All dogs get at least two 20-30 minute walks a day, depending on temperament/weather/appropriateness, in addition to outdoor time in the yard. At the end of the day the dogs cuddle up on the couch with us. Our own dogs are fully up to date on shots.
Pets
A typical day
Mental stimulation (“find it” games with treats, snuffle mats, etc) combined with physical exercise and lots of affection are what dogs need to be happy. We provide that with enthusiasm because we truly love dogs.
