For me, what I enjoy most is how quickly animals seem to trust me. I’ve had dogs that usually take days to warm up come and sit beside me within minutes. Some owners are surprised when I send them pictures of their dog sleeping next to me or wagging their tail during the first visit. I think animals just feel safe around me, and I really care about creating that kind of bond. I’ve taken care of several dogs—three labs at once, a Boston terrier, and many others in my extended family. I’m also used to adjusting my schedule for people who work unusual hours, like nurses or doctors. I don’t mind being on call or working week by week. I try to be as flexible and dependable as possible, because I know how important it is for pet owners to feel like their animals are in good hands.
