I've known Laura for many years and she has loved animals all her life. When we got our 1st dog a border collie mix, Toby, she took care of him when he needed both knees operated on. As Toby aged he developed Cushing disease and diabetes. Laura was right there when he needed his medicine and she injected him daily with his insulin. After Toby passed, my sister's German Shepherd developed degenerative myopathy and lost the use of his rear legs. Laura often took care of him around the house and then she would put him into his set of wheels and take him for walks. Our 2nd dog Emma, was healthy until she was about 12, and Laura would walk her everyday. As Emma aged, she began to lose some cognitive function and Laura still walked her daily. When Emma passed, we knew we'd get another dog and we did Zeke,. He was a rambunctious puppy. Unfortunately at about 6 years old he lost use of his back legs, had back surgery due to a severe slipped disc, and became incontinent. Laura "squeezes" him 3-4 times a day for urine and she cleans up his poop around the house. He,too, has wheels and revels in trips to dog friendly stores and walks around the neighborhood. He has become dog reactive, which disappears when he's in his wheels. He feels like a regular dog then. At this point we have 4 cats. Initially Zeke reacted to them and viewed them as interlopers in his territory. They arrived after he had settled into our household. After some care by Laura, he has begun to lessen his reaction to them.Previously, we had an elderly cat who needed daily infusion of saline which Laura did every day until we lost "Minky".
