When I'm caring for a pet I really enjoy their company, so spend most of the time hanging out with them or taking them places with me, if appropriate depending on the pet. If your pet has special needs like separation anxiety or a strict medication schedule, I plan my schedule around their care and comfort.

Information Laura R. would like to know about your pet

Most important is getting to know YOUR lifestyle with your dog(s) so we can maintain a consistent, familiar routine... knowing your preferred feeding schedule, exercise program, sleeping arrangements, commands, and personality traits - as well as any health care issues, of course - is paramount to a safe, happy stay.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks Your pet's health, age, stamina, and preferred socialization style with other animals will determine the nature of the exercise we take. Examples: long walks up and down the rolling hills of our quiet neighborhood; hikes at nearby Hitchcock Woods; errands to pet-friendly shops or outdoor cafes. I like to do two good length outings per day (scaled to your pet's ability), first thing in the morning and again in late afternoon. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Typically I find that a dog likes to sleep on his or her own bed or blanket placed on the floor adjacent to my own bed. Even a dog experiencing first night separation anxiety is often calmed by hearing my own peaceful breathing, in a warm and darkened room, comforted by the familiar smells of his/her own bedding. Time I'll spend with your dog I am home most of the day doing household and online stuff, which is why dog sitting works so well in my schedule. I like to take a couple of brisk walks daily, too! Depending on the particular pup, we can do walks around the neighborhood (residential, low traffic, lots to sniff), take an on-leash but vigorous jaunt on the nearby hiking trails, or take a leisurely stroll in the park.

Your dog has an exclusive with me!

Pet care experience

Why should you consider entrusting your precious pup to my care? These 7 reasons may be important to you: - Your dog(s) will have 100% of my care and attention! I only host one client's dog(s) at a time, and I don't have any pets of my own (just great memories.) When your pup stays with me they'll feel like it's their home away from home, where they're loved and cherished.. My rate is higher than some because of this limitation; in return, my dedication to your pet's personal needs is unsurpassed - as you can see from my excellent reviews. (NOTE: I will take care of up to 2 dogs from the same family.) - I am a totally devoted dog lover. Dogs come first in my book. Caring, paying attention to the the ways in which they communicate, ensuring they are happy, calm, secure puppies... makes me happy! - I'm quite comfortable with very large dogs, and also have experience with dogs who experience separation anxiety issues. - I follow your directions! Your wish is my command regarding food, walks, verbal commands to use, toys, and any other special instructions. - I am a mature, dependable adult; have raised children; own my own home; no smoking, no drugs. You can trust me to make responsible decisions in an emergency. - I have a big yard that outdoorsy dogs really enjoy for potty breaks, playing catch, soaking up the sun, and supervising squirrels. - I have a quiet home (kids grown, beloved pets long gone) where I spend most days doing internet research and writing; lots of time for hanging out with and being a companion to your pet(s). I'm also within a short drive of the dog park and hiking trails, if that's appropriate to your pet's disposition and exercise abilities. Why I love dog sitting My family always had dogs: everything from Great Danes to Pomeranians, from show dogs to rescue dogs. Personally I have always felt a strong bond and mutual understanding with dogs. Since my last dog passed away, I have looked for the opportunity to spend time with canine friends, and Rover has provided a great opportunity for me to do just that. I'm comfortable with dogs of all sizes and ages, and have special understanding of dogs with separation anxiety and geriatric dogs. Meet my pets No other pets here - just yours! Looking forward to meeting! About my yard I have a big backyard that has lots of areas to explore all fully-fenced and dog friendly. The back yard is great for quick rest-stop needs (eg, if nature calls in the middle of the night) and on beautiful days it's nice to just hang out there and watch the squirrels and birds in the trees. My experience administering medication I'm comfortable administering oral and noninvasive medications, but not comfortable doing injections.

Laura was extremely thoughtful and attentive to our dog during her stay! We even had a phone call beforehand to discuss our dog’s likes and dislikes. She shared lots of photos and texts about how our pup was doing. I would definitely ask Laura to dogs sit again in the future.
