Throughout my life I have had a variety of exposure and experience with several different species of animals. Growing up I had several pets including 2 dogs, 2 cats, lizards, fish, and a turtle. Because I grew up moving around and living abroad, I have great experience comforting animals through stressful experiences, such as a change in environment, and can recognize stressful behavior. When I’m not studying in school during the year, I spend time over the summer at my cousins home helping care for their 2 horses, 2 Pygmy goats, and several dogs and cats. My experience also includes volunteering in wildlife rehabilitation at a Nature Center in Arlington where my work mostly revolved around birds, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians native to the Virginia area. My volunteer experience also includes work as a dog handler with Lost Dog Rescue in Arlington. I love the outdoors and am very familiar with the trails and parks in the Charlottesville and Nova area where I often take our family dog Ruby. It helps that I also have a sister who works in veterinary medicine and can offer tips and advice if needed. I am familiar and comfortable with following specific instructions to meet your pet’s needs whether it be play time, getting medications, or just love and affection! I promise to treat and love your pet as I would my own, making sure they are comfortable, safe, and having a wonderful time!
