Safety, trust & environment

We live near fire-fly park in Wauwatosa with several other dogs in the neighborhood. I have a tie for dogs up to 50 pounds for the front yard (where all the action is) along with a smaller crate inside for non-escape artists who are more comfortable having their own space. I typically leave the door open on the crate. We added a 25' tie in the backyard for the sun loungers as well and sometimes move them (front/back yard) around depending on the dog's preference or where we are outside. Our dog also sought refuge under our kitchen table when the twins were smaller and more rambunctious (they are 17 now). I'll send you updates / photos as often as you like and try our best to stick to your home routines and schedules. Although we have most experience with dogs 20-50 pounds we have hosted dogs up to 100 pounds as well, its just a smaller house/yard for them. The German Shepard that frequents our home is 125 pounds (gentle giant).

Information Laura P. would like to know about your pet

I know each dog is unique. I’m very curious to learn about you and your dogs preferences so we can make their stay as seamless and comfortable as possible. If you have a question about accommodations please ask.

A typical day

Dogs are allowed on furniture and will receive as much space or snuggles as they prefer. I've also become quite the expert at tug of war which seems to be the most popular play time activity. There are plenty of new places to sniff / explore on walks and dog parks nearby for socialization as well. For our more anxious friends we'll stick to the same route every walk. If we take a night walk, I have LED lighted rings to wrap around the harness to make the dog(s) more visible.

Pet care experience

Dogs must get along with other dogs. My Mojo (puggle) passed away on January 2nd 2022, at almost 15. He spent his entire life with us in our home. Given our love for travel we've decided to care for dogs in our home for friends and family rather than adopting. We didn't think it would be fair if we were to bring a dog into our home full time with being gone so much. Having said that we do have a German Shepard friend that now frequently stays with us when we are home. Although we have a small yard, we love taking walks, going to dog parks or playing inside. In addition to our German Shepard visitor (he's 6 and practically lives here some weeks), we do take up to 2 dogs at once but always communicate/ask both families before doing so. I have experience with special diets, allergy restrictions, oral medications, leg braces, a variety of harnesses, seizures and anxiety. For extra anxious dogs we keep the blinds closed and noise levels lower to help calm them (and of course lots of love and pets). My house is a ranch but does have 2-3 stairs on the porch to get in/out but we can assist if needed. Dogs must be free of fleas/ticks and other contagious diseases as well as being potty trained (willing to work with puppies on a case-by-case basis). No aggressive dogs and must get along with other dogs. I do work full time outside the home so Monday-Friday dogs will be left home alone from 8AM until 6PM. Most days one of my 17 year-old twins will be home around 3:30PM to let the dog out as well. I live with my twin 17 year-olds that love pets as much as I do.

Laura was wonderful and very welcoming. My girls really enjoyed their time with her and her family. She was also extremely understanding and flexible with a last minute schedule change which was very helpful. Thank you again Laura!
