Safety, trust & environment

Your instructions are my playbook — I follow them closely and don't cut corners, whether it's feeding schedules, medication routines, or house rules for your pet. I'm naturally observant and attentive, so I stay tuned in to your pet's behavior and body language throughout every visit, picking up on cues that they might need something before it becomes an issue. Your pet's comfort and safety in their own environment is always the priority.

Information Laura M. would like to know about your pet

Every pet is unique, and the more you can share about yours the better! I'd love to know about their daily routine, food and treat preferences, any health or medication needs, and anything that tends to stress them out or make them extra happy. Even the little quirks matter — knowing that your dog hates the vacuum or only drinks from a specific bowl helps me make their experience as comfortable and familiar as possible.

A typical day

A typical day with me means plenty of attention, play, and patience. I'll follow your pet's usual routine as closely as possible — familiar schedules help pets feel secure — and fill the time in between with walks, fetch, tug, or just hanging out together on the couch. I'm a big believer that sometimes the best thing you can do for a pet is simply be present with them.

Pet care experience

My love for animals started early — when my family adopted our dog during my third-grade year, I took on real responsibility right away, handling his feedings and nightly walks. That hands-on care grew into a genuine passion that has only deepened over the years. Beyond dogs, I've developed experience with a range of animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, and horses, giving me a well-rounded foundation for handling pets of all personalities and needs. I'm currently studying biology and wildlife conservation at William & Mary, so animal welfare isn't just something I care about — it's what I've built my academic life around. I connect quickly with animals, take their comfort seriously, and will treat every pet in my care with the same patience and attentiveness I'd want for my own. You can feel confident leaving your furry family member in good hands!

Laura has been a volunteer at our animal sanctuary for a few years and has always shown great compassion towards all the rescue animals (dogs/cats/horses/goats/sheep/pigs/birds), helping with a variety of tasks, and even raising her hand for the less exciting ones! She is comfortable around animals while being respectful. I would highly recommend her to take care of your furry friend(s).

Laura is phenomenally intuitive with animals. She is immediately at ease with fur babies of any of any size and shape and will engage with them or provide space as she's reading their signals. Laura is conscientious of pets' needs as well as owners' wishes and ensures they're properly fed, given appropriate treats and have ample stimulation/potty breaks as needed.
