Pet care experience

Local Trainer and Adventure Buddy

I'm an active, dog-loving voice actor! In other words, my work is mobile and flexible and my schedule is predominantly what I make it. Plus, I can entertain your pup with a bunch of wacky voices. My 4-month old puppy is deep in the training trenches so she would be happy to join for company or stay home if your pup prefers one-on-one time. I loved dog-sitting and walking for Rover years ago in Boston, and then moved north in 2018 and work and life in Portland limited my availability. But now I'm back with a puppy in tow and would love to meet and care for your dog!

I don't currently offer house-sitting or hosting overnights, as our puppy and kitten rule the roost and my work requires occasional quiet periods for recording.

House Sitting • Nov 16, 2015

Laura has done an exceptional job with my two dogs and cat! She has been very respectful, asking before doing things around the house, and spends a good deal of time with my guys! I highly recommend her because of the level of care my animals are receiving. When I come from a trip away my pets are calm and comfortable. It means the world to me to know my pets are safe, secure, and well cared for! Thank you Laura!

From the time Laura was two years old and running our Irish Wolfhound to the kennel, we knew she was the animal whisperer in our family. While growing up with a variety of dogs and cats, she also romped with other members of our rural-life family including goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and a favorite rat. When a four-legged friend needed medicine Laura was the one for the job. Whether grooming for the fun of it, training for obedience, or out for a walk in the woods, Laura had a grand time with the animals, and they loved her for it.

I never thought much about Laura's consistently positive interactions with pets when I would see her, because I figured she always happened to be around nice pets. However, when my mom found and rescued an abandoned dog (named El Paso) who had learned to distrust most humans, I saw Laura's interactions with animals in a different light. In the past, El Paso's dog sitters had problems with him because he refused to come back into the house after being let outside to go to the bathroom. Sitters would learn tricks such as cooking ribs so the smell would waft out to him, or leaving the house, sneaking around after he went back in, and then shutting him in from the outside. After Laura dog-sat, we never looked for a different sitter again. When we asked how much of a hassle it was to get him back inside, she simply looked at us, surprised and confused. It was hard to believe that he came right to her when she called, but as we were at the house chatting with her, he walked up to her like he had known her for years. I completely recommend Laura as a trustworthy and loving dog caregiver! I have had nothing but positive interactions with her, and even consider her a good friend now.

Laura REALLY loves dogs. Whether it's her parents' Bernese mountain dog, brother's poodle mix, or sister-in-law's brick of a bulldog, they all adore her and she loves them back. She is patient, caring, and creative, and her amazing positivity really comes out around slobbery four-legged friends.

Laura loves dogs and has had experience with a great variety of them; from small to huge. She has cared for my dog and he was exercised, played with, appreciated and happy.

I love all kinds of dogs. My favorites are the humungous clueless ones, and I've owned my fair share of massive Goldens and Irish wolfhounds to be very comfortable handling them. That said, I have no problem snuggling up with a little chihuahua or other fluffy equivalent - and I'm more than happy to sit back and relax with your lazy lounger, or go for a run to the dog park and back with your high-energy hound! Just let me know what needs or preferences your pup has, any meds that need to be administered, and whether you're working on training a certain habit or lack thereof and I'm happy to abide.
