I work from home mostly and schedule my own hours. I prioritize morning light for walks before I start work and take sunlight breaks/walks/playtime throughout the day for the pets I care for. We have a perfect quiet 1km loop to walk and a park across the road with access to a lake. If the dog is well trained, they can come trail hiking, paddleboarding and cross country skiing as well for added fun.

I have a 2 acre property with no fence so will plan multiple outdoor playtimes and ideally 3 x 1km walks/day. I have 2 large dog beds, food and water dishes. I primarily board dogs (2 max) and daysit my regular boarders only. I only take well trained dogs over 2 years (unless grandfathered) with good recall and heeling ability if over 25 lbs. No reactive dogs.

Information Laura K. would like to know about your pet
As I can have more than one dog in my care, no fenced in yard and I have a husband that shift works, I cannot take high energy, reactive, untrained (i.e.. no recall), anxious or barky dogs or a dog with a history of harming another dog. Please let me know if your dog has any special needs/diets or unique behavioral traits I should be aware of. At our meet & Greet, I use a checklist to ensure we don't forget anything especially any unique commands for recall, or any other tips to help them feel more loved and comfortable when they are here.
A typical day
We love to play in the backyard with retrieving balls and tug of war if your dog likes that and if I have more than 1 dog they usually enjoy supervised playtime together. Because I need exercise too, we will walk usually 3 x 1km/day around our quite country loop. If I am working, I have a comfy beds beside my desk. If your dog has good recall and energy I like to add in cross country skiing, trail hiking and paddleboarding.

Helping your dog feel safe & loved
Pet care experience
My Background - I have had a dog for 27 years of my life. When we have not been able to have our own pets, my husband and I took care of all our friends dogs when they needed help. My last dog was a 94 lb shepherd (paraplegic for last 11 mos with Degenerative Myelopathy) and have experience with harnesses and wheels. I also make raw dog food (I am a human nutritionist) and as a Quantum Health Coach, will ensure your pets get sunshine & exercise multiple times a day alongside me! Once we have our initial meet & greet I insist on a day sit before boarding to help your dog feel more at home here. I only board and day sit non-reactive, trained (including good recall). non-anxious, non barky dogs. Another showstopper is a dog that snores loudly that must sleep in my room as I am a light sleeper. I also have shift worker in the house that has to be able to nap during daylight hours hence the excessive non-barkiness showstopper. I do not have a fenced yard but a large property with a park across the street with access to swim nearby.
Reviews

Ollie, our 4-year-old Golden, just came home from the best boarding experience he’s ever had — and honestly, we couldn’t be happier. Laura and her husband are genuinely caring, warm people who treated Ollie like one of their own. From the moment we dropped him off, their love for dogs was obvious, and Laura’s positive, cheerful energy put both Ollie and us completely at ease. Ollie had an absolute blast. He got to swim (his favourite thing in the world), play with another Golden and an adorable Golden puppy, and just be his happy, social self. He fit right in from day one. The neighbourhood is lovely, and the whole environment felt safe, welcoming, and full of life. Communication throughout the stay was excellent — we always knew how he was doing, which means everything when you’re away from your fur baby. Ollie came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. We’ll absolutely be booking with Laura again. Highly recommend! 🐾

Leaving our beloved basset hound behind while we went away is never easy, but having Laura look after her turned what could have been a stressful situation into complete peace of mind. From the start, Laura was incredibly conscientious and attentive, sending regular updates and photos that reassured us our dog was not only safe, but genuinely happy. What really stood out was the level of care and effort Laura put into each day. She made sure our dog got plenty of exercise, fresh air, and opportunities to socialize. Our basset hound can be a bit stubborn at times, but Laura clearly understands dogs and took the time to engage with her patiently and thoughtfully. It honestly felt less like simple dog sitting and more like sending our dog to a figurative “dog spa,” where she was pampered with attention, activity, and affection. Coming home to a relaxed, content, and well-exercised dog said it all. Laura treated our dog like family, and that level of care is priceless when you’re away. We would absolutely use Laura again without hesitation and recommend her without reservation to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and genuinely caring dog minder.
Laura was wonderful with Teeka and we felt very confident leaving our previous puppy with her for the weekend. Very communicative and knowledgeable. Teeka was excited to go to her house, which is always the best sign. She came home tired from lots of outdoor time and fresh air. We’re looking forward to booking with Laura again soon!

Laura and her family were wonderful. They took Gryphon in over the holidays at a stressful time, for a dog who can be a bit unsure of unfamiliar surroundings and made him feel part of the family; safe and loved. We are so grateful to everything you did and will definitely have him back to stay!
