I work from home during the week, so my schedule is highly flexible and adaptable. I’ll have plenty of uninterrupted time to dedicate to your pets care. My virtual meetings are typically centered around Mondays and Wednesdays, which you will see reflected in my availability. That said, I am a great multi-tasker, and I can still accommodate your pets' care around my calls.

I live in a very safe, secure, & family-friendly apartment in Hollywood, just blocks from Runyon Canyon. Information Laura J. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know of any quirky personality traits, general behavioral history, favorite treats and toys, and energy level. Do they prefer alone time, or are they more clingy? Do they have a daily routine? How are they with meeting strangers? What's their level of training/ general rule-following? Are they prone to getting into things they're not supposed to (trash, plants, etc)? What's their favorite place to get pet/scratched? What are their tells for showing signs of anxiety/ distress? The more info I can get, the better. Also, if they require medication(s), please let me know as much detail as you can, including the diagnosis, drug type, dosage, and schedule. I am familiar with many different types of medical cases, so drug administration doesn’t phase me.

A typical day

Depending on your pets’ energy level, I am happy to sit with them at home and be couch potatoes together, play with toys inside, or run around with them at a park until they’re totally tuckered out. Spending quality time with an animal is the best way to get to know them, so with your guidance, I’ll be able to learn what they prefer and am happy to cater to whatever their enrichment needs may be.

Multi-Breed & Pocket Pet Experience

Pet care experience

I am a genuine lifelong animal lover! By the time I left my childhood home for college, my family had 4 dogs, 3 geckos, 2 frogs, 2 mice, and a Guinea pig. I’ve since owned 1 dog, 3 cats, 9 snakes, 4 more geckos, and 1 more frog. I’ve cared for and assisted with puppies, kittens, special needs cases, seniors, and everything in between. I am a marine biologist by training, and have volunteered/worked with a plethora of species throughout my career, in addition to occasionally dog walking and pet sitting during college. I also completed a veterinary technicians assistant course while in school. When meeting the pets of friends and acquaintances, I’ve had innumerable instances of the classic “Wow! He/she likes you, and they never like anyone!”-type moments, which I believe is an estimate to my energy around animals. My husbandry and care standards are extremely high, I will look after your pet(s) as if they were my own. Hope to hear from you soon!

When I met Laura, it was college and I would go to hang out at her house where she’s got an amazing array of animal books, nature books, and the coolest collection of animal items. I met her snake Jake and fell inlove with how gentle and kind they are and I ended up getting one! When she moved out to California and got her first cat, I knew it was a match made in heaven and it was definitely so. Then came Tucker and then came Squid, Laura has one of the biggest hearts of anyone and she scooped little Squid off the street and gave him a fun and loving home. Laura will give your pets all the care they will need and more, I always trust her with my animals because she knows that they’re your life, and you would want someone caring and loving to be around your animal.
