Availability
I live and work flexibly, which is part of why I can do this well. I'm home with the dogs throughout the day, not just checking in.

Safety, trust & environment
I live in a quiet townhouse in Manhattan with a private fenced yard. Within walking distance of Morningside Park and Central Park, so dogs get proper outdoor time, not just sidewalks. My home is dog-proofed and full of soft places to nap and guests are part of the household, not separated.

Information Laura J. would like to know about your pet
The more I know, the better the stay! The essentials: — Feeding schedule and any sensitivities — Vaccination must be up-to-date — Spay/neuter status (neutered males only; females in heat by exception only — please ask in advance) — How they do with other dogs, including high-energy ones — Recall, leash behavior, and any reactivity to people, dogs, bikes, or cars — Anxieties, fears, or things that help them feel safe — Sleep setup at home — crate, bed, your bed — Anything else you'd want a sitter to know
A typical day
Mornings typically start with a long walk in Morningside or Central Park, paced to the dog. Then a mix of rest and play through the middle of the day — Vella is high-energy and a willing playmate for guests who want one; quieter dogs get their own corner. Another real walk in the afternoon, dinner, and a final loop before bed. We figure out your dog's rhythm together and stick with it.

A few cherished guests at a time
Pet care experience
I open my home to a few cherished guests at a time. No noisy kennels, no anxious crowds. Just your dog in a real home, with the space, attention, and love they deserve. I'm Finnish and grew up with animals on either side of me. Dogs from the day I was born, horses from the age of six. I trained both. Show jumping with horses, junior handling and agility with dogs. As an adult I've cared for dogs of all sizes and energy levels, from anxious rescues to high-drive working breeds, and I'm comfortable with medications, special diets, and senior-care routines. I live with Vella, my rescue, who has final approval on all new friendships. I'm selective about which dogs are a fit for my home, and I keep my roster small on purpose — so each guest gets attentive, present care. Tell me about their routine, their quirks, their food, what helps them feel safe. I'll send photos and updates throughout the day. Up-to-date vaccinations required. Neutered males only. Females in heat by exception only — please ask in advance.
Reviews

We've used Laura on multiple occasions now and always had a terrific experience. Very flexible, communicative, and responsible. We would highly recommend her!

What a special person and an amazing pup (temporary) parent. Laura took care of my 84 year old mom's toy poodle for almost 3 weeks. She kept my mom informed, sent pictures and was so reliable with pick up and drop off. Laura will be our go-to pet sitter!!! Highly recommend using her.

Communicative and very lovely to work with!

Laura is fantastic!! Couldn’t be happier with our experience, and we are so grateful for her help. You could not find someone better to care for you pup — thank you so much, Laura!!
