I've always had a really great relationship with dogs, and was lucky enough to become an owner 7 years ago, when I rescued Gyp from a charity in China. A year later, I brought him back to the UK and lived in a house with 4 other dogs, who I regularly walked, played and cuddled with. As a rescue, Gyp can be very anxious and needs reassurance, so I'm very good at spotting when he's stressed, and I'm really good at keeping a calm and consistent environment for him. Later, I adopted Smokey, who was a senior dog, and so had very different needs to Gyp. Sadly we lost Smokey last year due to his old age. I always make sure the dogs get plenty of attention and exercise, and they're never left alone for more than 5 hours (usually it's much less than that). The house is very dog friendly - Gyp loves cuddles on the sofa and in bed. And I have a fenced garden for them to enjoy too. My dog is my number one priority, and yours would be treated no differently when they came to stay.
