Honey and the Hound Pet Care

Trusted | Experienced | Insured ***Effective 12/15/25, all Rover bookings are subject to a 20% of the total booking transaction fee due to the platform's sitter's charge on all bookings Hello fellow pet parents! My name is Laura, and I work full-time running my pet care service business, Honey and the Hound Pet Care (formerly K9to5 Pet Care). My husband and I have been together since 2016 and share our lives with 7 fantastic fur kiddos: 5 dogs and 2 cats. Born and raised in North Carolina, I have been lucky enough to grow up around animals my entire life and knew from a very early age that I had a true passion for them. From hamsters to horses, I've had the pleasure of caring for and handling a vast array of animals throughout my life. In 2012, I began working in veterinary clinics as a veterinary assistant and was able to further my pet care knowledge as well as my animal handling skills. Just a few years later, in 2015, I joined Rover and was one of their first sitters in the Wilmington area. At the time, I was working full-time at a veterinary clinic and only owned my Chessie, Bo Duke. I knew this would be a great way not only to do more of what I love outside of my “9 to 5” but also help Bo make tons of new furriends to play and socialize with. After many 5-star reviews, happy clients, and even happier pets, I was able to make pet care my full-time business in 2020. I am incredibly passionate about helping both people and their pets, so sometimes I am still in disbelief that I get to call this my job. There is no denying that THIS is the BEST JOB EVER! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

▶︎ MY SERVICES ◀︎ OVERNIGHT CARE/HOUSE SITTING We all hate leaving our pets when heading out of town, but one way to make sure they’re as comfortable as possible is to provide them care in a stress-free, familiar environment -- their very own home! With my House Sitting service, I stay in your home full-time to tend to all of your pet's needs and ensure both their safety and comfort while you're away. I also am able to water plants, retrieve the mail/packages, and conduct light housekeeping throughout the booking at no additional fee. Honey and the Hound knows that after the health, safety, and happiness of your pet, the security of your home is a big priority. Therefore, the only person who have access to your home will be myself. Your pet will be happy to stay in the comfort of their own home, and you can relax knowing both your pet and home are in good hands. * * * If you are outside of my 20 mile radius, pricing will include the nightly rate as well as a $0.70/mile travel fee per night DROP-IN VISITS (within 20 mile radius) My Drop-In service includes me stopping by up to 4 times a day to take care of any of your pet’s needs. Along with food and water, this could include a walk or game of fetch with your dog, trying to catch the laser pointer with your cat, or a trip in the hamster ball for your hamster. I provide a completely customized visit according to your pet's needs because I understand that every pet is different. My ultimate goal is to make owner’s days easier by ensuring their pet has a fantastic day that includes fun, exercise, and loving companionship. + Drop-In visits available between 6AM-10PM throughout the week * * * If you are outside of my 20 mile radius, pricing will include the drop-in rate as well as a $0.70/mile travel fee per visit

Laura was an absolute delight to work with! My dog instantly loved her and even whined a little bit after she left our house at the end of our meet and greet, which she rarely does with anyone except my husband and I. I'm a very anxious person in general, and most of that anxiety is centered around my dog's well-being; Laura was able to make some of that anxiety go away and that means the world to me. My dog had a wonderful, chill night with Laura caring for her at my house! She was extremely attentive to notes that I left regarding my dog's unique feeding routine and as-needed medication. Laura also somehow found a way to get my dog to pose for photos (my dog almost never sits still enough to let me take pictures of her 😂) and sent us many pictures of her throughout our time away from home! I would recommend Laura to anyone, especially those with dogs who have food/medication/health concerns! We will definitely be booking with her again if anything comes up! 😊

I like to know as much as possible regarding your pet. This may include but is not limited to: medical conditions, allergies, aggression (towards food, other pets, during play, or over toys), separation anxiety, health issues, destructive behaviors, exercise level, etc. I do require all pets be current on their rabies, distemper/parvo, and bordetella vaccines. Please be sure to arrive with enough food/treats and medications, if applicable, for the duration of their stay. Also, please bring your pet’s collar/harness, leash, bedding/crate, and anything else that you feel they will enjoy while you're away. Sometimes, there will be other Rover friends staying here but I will notify you if any other pet(s) will be in the home during the stay.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
