Pet care is second nature to me as I deeply value my relationships with animals and have a lifetime of experience with furred, feathered & finned friends. I am dedicated to their safety & well-being and passionate about earning those purrs and tail wags. I grew up on a small farm, volunteered at a vet clinic in high school and studied Animal Science in college. I have cared for birds, fish, reptiles, chickens, rats, rabbits, cats & dogs, as well as working as a horse trainer and riding instructor. I am an advocate of positive reinforcement training, have a popular blog on the topic and taught one of my dogs over fifty tricks! I helped found a dog rescue in 2016, including large scale transports, home checks and fostering. I am well versed in dog body language and have a soft spot for herding breeds, terriers, small and senior dogs. I had my last cat for over 20 years and inspired by my wonderful cat clients I recently added a kitty to the family again, along with two incredible rescue dogs and four peaceful aquariums.

My time with your pet can be tailored to their energy level, whether that’s a ground-covering urban hike or a snow day snuggle session. I know how nerve-wracking it can be to entrust your precious family member to someone new and I take my commitment to them seriously. I’m a stickler for safety, ensuring secure fit of equipment, cautious handling of doorways/gates/barriers and close monitoring of comfort levels in hot and cold weather. I prefer to walk dogs in harnesses if available and will not use retractable leashes. Maintaining distance from other dogs & people on walks is my default due to having my own leash-reactive pup. I believe in allowing dogs to sniff and explore their environment - it’s their walk, after all! I appreciate animals foremost as individuals and my interactions are adaptable and intuitive. Your best friend will be treated with warmth & affection and your home with respect. I carry pet care insurance for additional peace of mind, am dependable and detail-oriented and will follow your instructions to the letter. Since I love capturing those adorable doggie smiles and kitty antics, expect plenty of cute photos throughout the visit!

Lara exceeded my expectations as far as taking care of my baby went. He had some pretty bad anxiety and she found a way to make him feel comforted. I would one hundred percent love for her to watch him again. You’re the best Lara, I can’t thank you enough.

Schedule
I am available for evening, weekend and lunch hour visits/walks and most major holidays. I work remotely regular business hours during the week but have Mondays off regularly. Let me know your specific needs and I’ll do my best to accommodate!
