Personally for my dogs we have a backyard and it’s completely fenced. When they were little we had them crate trained so I can easily help put back dog back into their crates if needed.

Lailohni had the benefit of having a dog from a puppy and growing up with her to her now 10 years later caring for a more senior dog. She’s taken care of her when she had surgery and was recovering, giving her meds and making sure the wound healed. She’s energetic when your dog needs to burn energy or can just be there to keep them company.
