$20 off for first-time bookers when you use the code KYRAN21053 at checkout! ——————————————— Hello! My name is Kyra, and I'm a lifelong animal lover. I have previous experience working as a veterinary intern and have had a wide variety of hands-on professional experience taking care of animals. My extensive history has taught me to be patient, gentle, and caring while simultaneously being assertive and efficient. I have been with Rover since January of 2020 and have many returning clients. I took a break from Rover for school, and I'm excited and eager to return. Before my experiences with Rover, I had pet sat for neighbors and others who had reached out to me over NextDoor. A bit about my personal experience with pets and animals: my first pet was a disabled (paralyzed) black lab named Cinder. He was the sweetest dog ever. Being around Cinder growing up, (a dog about 4 times my size as a toddler), I have never had a fear of large dogs. I love dogs of all sizes and will enthusiastically embrace dogs big and small. I have also had a rottweiler, a miniature pincher, two more black labs, a miniature poodle mix, a pitbull, over 15 cats, a turtle, a bearded dragon, 2 geckos, several types of fish and a rat. Nearly all of my pets (aside from the fish and rat) were rescues or adopted from families who could not care for them. Although none of my pets showed signs of trauma, I am prepared to be patient and compassionate for more fearful or shy pets. Despite my energetic enthusiasm with animals, I can also be calm and soothing to them. I often try to match the energy of the pet balanced with the situation. I would also be willing to look after pets other than cats and dogs. Although I don’t have experience caring for birds or most reptiles (such as snakes), etc., I am open to learning if you are willing to teach me. Thank you so much for reading! I look forward to hearing from you and your wonderful fur-babies!

Kyra remains my favorite sitter. She is so thorough, communicative, and detail oriented. She’s also been incredibly sweet, patient, and kind with my very anxious cats. I appreciate both her professionalism and her friendly demeanor. I recommend her to other pet owners without reservation!

Kyra checked in on my cats for about a week while I was out of town. She is one of the most communicative, dependable, and trustworthy sitters I’ve ever worked with. She cared for my pets as her own, learned and executed complex food and litter robot tasks (I have a Petlibro wet food feeder and a finicky Meowant), and even went out of her way to make sure my space was clean when the kitties made a mess. I’m so impressed by her skill and work ethic. She will always be my first choice of sitters moving forward!

Kyra was so loving and reliable with our pups (who can be kind of high maintenance) and she made us feel completely comfortable. She asked great questions, sent wonderful updates, and shared the cutest photos each day!! She also left our home immaculate and went above and beyond to make sure one of our dogs got enough to eat when he was refusing his food. She’s a saint. Can’t wait to book her again!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I am completing the final month of my degree remotely, so my schedule is very flexible! I'm able to adapt to the routine of your pets as needed.

Where your pet will stay

Safety, trust & environment

Animals have unique personalities and require equally unique approaches. I pay close attention to your pets' cues and follow their lead to build trust and to ensure that your pet feels as safe, comfortable, and happy as possible. I'm happy to offer meet-and-greets as an introduction in the presence of the pet's family to increase the pet's familiarity and security before the start of a booking.

A typical day

I try to adhere to your pet's daily routine as closely as possible, offering daily walks and regular feeding times. I’m open to park/path suggestions and hiking. As a former softball player, I can also throw a ball far and for a long time without tiring out, so I'm happy to play fetch or frisbee too! At home, I keep pets entertained with plenty of dedicated playtime and lots of pets and cuddles to wind down.

Aside from information on your pet's routine and daily needs, it's also important to alert me to any allergies or health conditions I should be aware of during my time with them. I'm also interested to know of any particular likes/dislikes your pet has. For example, if your pet is uncomfortable being pet on the head, or if they have a favorite toy, this kind of information can help me best cater to your pet's preferences. Finally, please let me know of any behaviors I should keep an eye out for (examples: potty training, anxiety habits-especially ones that are physically harmful to them, or if they tend to steal food/get into the trash).
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
