**Please check my calendar for availability but feel free to message if you have questions. If we have already agreed to book and you see one or more of those days marked unavailable, don't worry, that doesn't affect our booking.** I spent about 10 years training my dogs through 4-H and showing them in the county fair growing up. I pet sat for numerous family friends and neighbors for years before I began doing it professionally. I joined Rover in April 2018. In 2019, I took a break from Rover and worked for a pet care company taking as many as 4 dogs, all above 60lbs, on 1.5 hour hikes as well as doing house sitting. Freelancing and through Rover, my experience includes walking and caring for dogs of various sizes and ages from 2lbs to 130lbs and young puppies to seniors. I also have experience working with dogs that exhibit leash aggressive, extreme anxiety, an urge to chase cars, etc. Additionally, I have cared for a deaf dog and dogs that require medication. I have also done overnight stays of anywhere from a night to two weeks taking care of dogs, cats, chickens, geckos, rats, etc. depending on the situation. I have taken care of cats of all ages from kittens to senior. I am experienced with cats of all levels of friendliness, including extremely shy cats. I also have experience giving cats pills with a pill popper and mixed into their food. I adjust care to the type of pet and their personality and needs. I can focus on giving them love/pets, playing with them, getting them outside or exercised, making sure they get fed and have water, making sure their litterbox is clean, or any mixture of those. Or whatever else is needed for them or generally. For example, if you're gone for a while and want me to bring the mail in as I go in to check on your pet or water a few plants, I can do that. I grew up with dogs my whole life. Beginning with three dogs; an Australian Shepard, Lab-Spitz mix, and Border Collie Golden Retriever mix. Later a Welsh Pembroke Corgi and Australian Cattle dog mix. Sadly, never got to have cats growing up as my mom is allergic. Now I have my own rescue pup that we adopted in May 2022 who is my favorite goofy handful! 😂 I have found that animals are one of the greatest joys in this world and I truly enjoy taking care of them. Even if you have to clean up messes, wrangle their energy, or spend hours training them at times.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

I take pet safety very seriously. Dogs: Each dog is different and I think it is important to start with what the owner has to say about their dog's behavior. Is your pet an escape artist? Does your dog guard food, toys, people, places, etc? Does your pet get along with other animals? Is your dog reactive on leash? Does your dog like to chase cars or squirrels or bikes? Does your dog not like certain types people (for example, men)? Does your dog like to eat things off the ground? Being informed ahead of time allows me to better handle and keep your dog safe on walks and during visits. For dogs that like to destroy toys and chew bones, I keep a close eye on them to ensure they don't eat fluff or string and don't choke. Some basics things to know in regards to my standard handling for dog walks: • I generally avoid other dogs on walks even if your dog(s) are friendly just in case the other dog is not. • I bring them close or in a heel type position to pass people and other animals for safety and to prevent interaction. • I do not allow dogs off leash. • I stick to sidewalks and trails wherever possible. There may be streets without sidewalks in which case we stay to the side and try to head to a route with safer walkways. • We stop before crossing the street. • I re-lock the door while we go for our walk. • I do my best to stop them from eating this off the ground. • There are so many foxtails around, especially in summer and then they're also dry, but I do my best to not let the dog(s) near them. • I check for ticks and foxtails after walks. Cats: With cats I am very careful about where they are when I go in and out to prevent any darting outside. If we are playing, I try to make sure they don't eat the string on toys. Anything that you can tell me about your cat's behavior also helps. Are they an indoor/outdoor cat? If they're an indoor cat, do they try to get out?

Dog Walking • Dec 06, 2025

This is the 2nd time we have used Kyra for our boxer. He is deaf and 4 y/o. Kyra is very calm and laid back and walks our boy around the area while we have a relaxing dining experience on Cannary Row. She sends pics periodically which sets my heart at ease. I highly reccomend Kyra for your pup care.
