Vet Student & Fear Free Trainer!

Fear Free Dog Trainer, Vet Student, and Experienced Shelter/Welfare Worker! I have worked professionally in the veterinary field for over 5 years, caring for animals ranging from mice & rats to dogs & cats and even sheep, goats, pigs, chinchillas, gerbils, horses, rabbits & more. I love all species of animals! I am a first-year vet student this year and I offer low-cost dog training in my free time. I am a Fear Free Certified Professional dog trainer and I’m happy to work with your pet on new skills if you’d like! You can trust that I will practice Fear Free handling with your pets for their comfort and safety. I am proficient in medication administration through all routes, so I am happy to care for pets with medication needs or other medical requirements. I have pet-sat for many friends and family members since high school, including cats, dogs, small pets, and farm animals! As a shelter worker of nearly 2 years, I have experience with shy, nervous pets as well as exuberant, energetic pups, and with my experience in Fear Free training, I work to keep your pet feeling safe, comfortable, and fulfilled while in my care. The highlight of my day is a little adventure with my senior dog when I get home from work. We love to go on short, easy hikes or take a blanket to the park for a picnic with snacks for both of us and a book for me. I love spending time with dogs in ways that are most fun for them, whether it’s our daily picnic, taking a water-loving dog for a beach day, practicing agility with a high-energy pup, cuddling on the couch, and so much more. I strive to make experiences with each pet unique to their needs, and as a former shelter employee and current dog trainer, I have experience with many unique dogs and especially rescue pups. I have a very special place in my heart for rescues! I have one dog, a rescue XL bully named Baby, and one cat, a brown tabby named Tater! I have a big heart for all breeds and species, and I can’t wait to meet your furry family members! As a sitter, I am always happy to send photos and updates of your pets, especially if I can get them to give me a silly face or pose!

Safety, trust & environment

As a veterinary student and dog trainer, I take safety for both myself and your pet very seriously. I am happy to safely administer any medications needed, and I use Fear Free handling to minimize stress during any pet handling or procedures. I ensure animals are safely secured when unsupervised and handle them with care while I am supervising. If your pets are crated or baby-gated to keep them safe, I will ensure they are safely secured without any hazards in their space before leaving your home.

Another set of wonderful walls with Kyra! She was so sweet and patient with my dogs when they were getting triggered by people and pets on our walk. She was also incredibly punctual, communicate, and accommodating taking on walk request with short notice. Thank you, Kyra! We really appreciate you and look forward to future walks with you :)

Kyra was a lifesaver helping me walk my two loving but reactive dogs on short notice the last few days while my partner was away. Her communication was great and she was so sweet with my pups- she even brought snacks to help ease their anxiety. Kyra did an awesome job handling the dogs when they reacted to people, dogs, and bunnies. We all felt very comfortable and will absolutely be booking with Kyra again when needed :)

If you have any medical or behavioral special needs, let me know as soon as possible so I can come prepared and give your pets the best possible experience! Behavioral issues that are good to note are: history of resource guarding, leash reactivity, "stranger danger", aggression (towards dogs, other animals, humans), escape artists, etc. Please also inform me of your pets' habits and requirements when it comes to crates, baby gates, doors, etc. to ensure your pets are safely secured upon entry and exit of your home. Thank you!
